Easy DIY Mickey & Pals Costumes

We head to Disney in a few days and my kids are super excited. They all love Mickey and his pals. Even Miles giggles when we play the “hot dog dance”. A few years ago, I made Maggie a Mickey Mouse costume. We still had the yellow shoes and I thought I would make a new version for Tommy since he is a huge Mickey fan (calls him Mit-Mo). Alex immediately wanted an update to her Minnie Mouse outfit. She was sad it didn’t still fit, but she was 12 months old last time she was Minnie for Halloween. Maggie jumped up and said “I want to be Goofy” and of course, that made little Miles our Pluto.

I made all 4 of these costumes without sewing. They were so easy and fast to make. I did have a hot glue gun on hand, but that’s my go-to with crafting anything. I started out by picking colorful basics from Primary. I linked to them all directly below. Once they arrived, I lined them all up together and went to work adding to the clothing and creating accessories to make them look like more like the characters. We had a bunch of Mickey and Minnie ears on hand, but if you need to make those too, check out this post. After making the costumes, don’t forget to draw on little black noses for a finishing touch!

Here’s how to make easy DIY Mickey and Pals costumes:

Mickey Mouse:

Black Onesie (or shirt), black pants, red shorts, Mickey Ears, white stick on felt, white gloves  and yellow shoes.

Layer the red shorts over the pants/onesie. Then cut out 2 circles from the stick on felt and stick them onto the shorts. If you want to make sure it really sticks, use some glue. For the yellow shoes, I painted a black pair of slips ons yellow years ago (see this post). It was an easy, cheap way to make Mickey Shoes.

Minnie Mouse:

Red dress, black leggings, glittery red shoes, white stick on felt and Minnie Ears

This was super easy! Alex even stuck on the dots herself. I cut out polka dots from the sticky white felt. Again, if you want them more secure add glue. We got the cute glittery red shoes from Babychelle.

DIY Goofy Costume Pluto Mickey Minnie

Goofy:

This one was a blast to see come together!

Orange shirt, blue pants, black t-shirt (one size up), black shoes, headband, great stiff felt, black felt and glue

I used the black t-shirt to create Goofy’s vest. That’s why I recommend ordering a size up, so it fits like Goofy’s baggy vest. I just cut off the sleeves and then cut down the middle of the shirt. That’s it! For the Goofy ears: cut out 2 long ears from black felt and glue them onto the headband. For the green hat: I printed an image online of what his hat looks like to try and trace it. I cut it out of the green felt and then glued a strip of black felt onto the hat to make it look more like Goofy’s hat. Then I glued the hat onto the center of the headband. We got the black quilted slip ons from FabKids. Goofy was ready to go!

DIY Pluto Costume

Pluto:

This is such a comfy Halloween costume for a baby. It’s just a yellow (Primary calls is Sunshine) snap up footie, a yellow (Primary calls is Butter) baby hat and felt ears that I glued onto the hat.

Now it’s time to back up my Disney gang and head to Disney World!

Disclosure: We were compensated for this post by Primary. All opinions and creative ideas are our own.
