Avery is eight months old! Our little baby girl is turning into our big baby girl. It’s hard to believe that we are closer to one than we are to her first few days of life. Avery is starting to show signs of a sweet and fun personality…lots of little giggles, lots of coos and babbles, & still loves to cuddle. She’s super active & busy, but super happy & easygoing. Today, I am excited to share a little more about our eighth month with little Avery!
First of all, our little girl never stops moving. All of her siblings were very active at a young age & it looks like she is following in their footsteps. She is crawling around non-stop, pulling up on everything, and has even mastered how to crawl up the stairs. I definitely have to keep a close eye on Avery or else, I will find her digging through the plants, climbing the stairs, or getting her hand in Legos.
Our little girl loves to play. Honestly, she wants to play with whatever her siblings are playing with. She often will be caught trying to reach Andrew’s Legos on the coffee table, eating Aiden’sbaseball cards, or snuggling one of Abby’s stuffed animals on the couch. She also loves to tear paper, play with the drawer of plastic cups we own, and just crawl. We have a giant bin of baby toys in our living room, but she still loves to find whatever is NOT hers. Some of her favorite baby toys include: the activity table, board books, and stacking cups. But her most favorite place to be is outdoors…
We spent a lot of time outdoors this past month with summer winding down to an end. While the big kids were swimming and jumping off the diving boards, Avery loved to splash around the pool in the comfort of her mom’s arms! When the big kids were riding their bikes and scooters, Avery loved to be pushed around in our little red push car. While the big siblings were running all over the park, Avery loved to be pushed in the swing or attempting to climb the slide to keep up with them. She’s very content outdoors, which is awesome because we spend a lot of time out there!
If there’s anything that Avery loves more than anything, it’s her siblings. She often will crawl away from her dad & I just to keep up with her big siblings. Her eyes light up when they come into her room after nap time to help get her out of the crib. She kicks her feet in the stroller whenever they peek their faces i to say “hello”. Watching the bond between siblings is truly special and I’m so happy that she has three huge fans in her older siblings.
Our little girl has become quite the eater. She has decided that she loves to eat textured foods and will often refuse purees. She loves to join us at mealtime and often eats the foods that we are eating dinner. I just cut everything small enough that she can eat with her toothless gums. For breakfast, she often eats oatmeal & fruit. Some of the meals that she has loved are: taco night, spaghetti, & chicken pot pie. She really gobbles up everything that we eat and seems to love all foods, including fruits and vegetables. When we are out and about, I often will keep a can of baby puffs and a pouch of baby food for her. Avery continues to love nursing & I continue to nurse her every there to four hours.
Avery usually goes to be between 7:30-8:00 and wakes up between 7:00-7:30. I still wish to say that Avery slept through the night, but we are not quite there yet. Avery gets up once (sometimes twice) a night to nurse. During the day, we just plop her in the crib and she falls asleep. At night, we continue to use the sleep sack but will probably start to phase this out as she outgrows the sleep sacks that we own!
We are so happy to celebrate another special month of Avery’s life. She is a true blessing to our family & it has been so fun to watch her grow from month to month. To read more baby milestones, check out the following posts:
Happy Eight Months Avery, We Love You!
8 Months Old Schedule
As the fourth child, Avery is on the go more than any other child we have had. Thankfully, she is pretty chill and is content with whatever the day brings up. Below is a rough schedule of what life is like for our eight month old.
7 AM Wake Up & Nurse: We start her day, often waking her and plopping her in the car to get the boys to school drop-off between 7:30-8:00 AM. If I have time to nurse her before we leave, then I try to do the, but there are several days where we have to come home and nurse before breakfast.
8 AM Breakfast & Playtime: She often eats baby oatmeal, YoBaby yogurt, & fruit. After breakfast, she loves to play on the floor with her big sister often close by.
9 AM-10/11 AM Naptime: She goes down for a nap at nine, but I will wake her up at ten (so we can assure a good afternoon nap later in the day while her big sister is in school).
10 AM Wake Up & Nurse, Playtime/Errands: We either hang around the house or head out for errands or an outing. Around noon, we have lunch and drop Abby off at preschool. Avery often will eat Stage One or Two Food with an assortment of table foods during this time for lunch.
1-2 PM Nurse & Naptime: We head home for a shorter afternoon nap where I often will wake her up at 2:30 to go pick up all of her older siblings from school.
We eat dinner around six, spend some time together as a family. Bath time and bed.
3 PM-6 PM Playtime, Nurse around 4:00-5:00 PM: The afternoons are often spent dropping off & picking up her siblings from practices. If we are home, we often spend time outdoors. She is pretty chill about going with the flow & is content wherever we end up.
6 PM Dinner: We eat dinner around six and Avery often eats Stage One or Two Food with an assortment of table foods. We spend time together as a family, often playing outside in the backyard or chilling in the living room while her older siblings do homework. Avery gets a bath every other day.
