What a fun (& busy month!) we have had! It’s hard to believe that Avery is seven months old. This was the month of our BIG summer vacation, a cross-country trip to California. Avery also took her first trip to Grandma’s house, attended her first MLB baseball game, & enjoyed the lazy days of summer. We spent lots of time at the pool and playing in the backyard. Our little girl is becoming quite the busy little girl, moving & exploring all day long. Today, I am excited to share a little more about our seventh month of life with sweet little Avery!
First of all, we have a serious mover on our hands! This month, Avery decided to graduate from scooting to full-on crawling. She is all over the floor, moving from room to room to room. Nothing is safe from her, especially her sibling’s toys, which happen to be her favorites. Anything that big brother or big sister is playing with is exactly what Avery wants! And not only that, she is beginning to pull herself up on anything & everything. She pulls up on the coffee table, the couch, dresser drawers, & even our flower planters!
Our little newborn baby is turning into a sweet baby girl (tear, tear!). It’s time to pack and give away the Bumbo, playmat, swing, & so much more. She is on the move and no longer likes to be contained in one spot. Instead, she would much rather be plopped down on the floor, free to explore the world on her hands and knees.
This girl loves her siblings. (And they love her as well!) She loves to watch them and will often crawl away from me right towards whatever they are doing. We have definitely had our share of books being grabbed out of siblings’ hands, hair being pulled on, and knocked down block towers. The kids have learned to keep their small toys up high where Avery can’t reach them and have learned how to include (or tolerate) Avery with whatever they are playing. The kids are very sweet with Avery & any one of them, when they are home, will be found pushing her in the swing, showing her toys or books, or smothering her with love.
Avery continues to nurse every three to four hours, with an occasional bottle of pumped milk when needed. She does get distracted (often by her siblings!) while she nurses, so I usually feed her in the nursery with the door partially closed. I cherish these one-on-one moments where I can cuddle and nurse our sweet girl without the chaos of her siblings running all around. In regards to food, she is becoming quite the little eater! We did a lot of traveling this month which means that we had to be pretty flexible on meals & expanded her meal selection pretty quickly. She learned to eat a lot of different foods & she has graduated from not just eating baby food, but also eating an assortment of table food. Not only does she love a variety of foods, but she also loves the baby favorites: mum-mums, puffs, and yogurt melts. These are great to have on hand for a quick snack & were a life-saver on the five hour plane ride!
I wish to say that Avery slept through the night, but nope…not true yet! She is still up once, sometimes twice, during the night. We traveled a lot this month and in total, I think she slept in six different houses and bed in her seventh month of life. Thankfully, she did pretty well with the time change and the variety of locations, but I have to thank a pretty consistent bedtime routine and the sound machine for helping her sleep from place to place.
Avery’s seventh month of life was full of adventure. First, she got to take her first trip to Grandma’s house in Raleigh, NC. She explored playgrounds, museums, and even sat contently through a show at the planetarium. Next, she got to take her first cross-country flight to California. Avery did wonderful on the plane, thanks to a few snacks, a few toys, and a couple naps. She enjoyed the sights and sounds of San Francisco. Avery got to take in her first view of the Pacific Ocean. She went through a few small hikes in Yosemite National Park & rode in the Baby Bjorn among the giant redwoods. Thankfully, she has rolled to go with the flow and was such a great travel companion.
Avery continues to be a little peanut. She wears size 2 diapers & 3-6 month clothes. Although she is small in size, her personality is getting bigger by the day. She has learned to wave, gives kisses, & loves to interact with anyone and everyone. Below, I am sharing a few more details including a rough idea of what our schedule looks like & a few of our seven month baby favorites. To read more baby milestones, check out the following posts:
