Little Avery is three months old 🙂 This age is one of my favorites. There’s lots and lots of smiles. There’s lots and lots of snuggling. And there’s just lots and lots of cuteness. There are moments when you can’t wait for your baby to get older when you are blessed with more coos & smiles. But, there are also moments when you embrace the newness as you rock your little one to sleep. It’s a bittersweet month as the end of “newborn” days are coming to an end, but the beginning of happy little baby are beginning. Today, I am going to share a little more about the third month of life with our sweet little girl.
At three months, little Avery continues to be the center of our household. Her siblings still love her dearly & honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a smoother transition from three kids to four kids from each one of our kids. (Don’t get me wrong, even with a smooth transition…life with four is no walk in the park. Four kids, one house…we definitely have our share of tears, meltdowns, and much more!) Through all the chaos, Avery continues to spend most of her days in someone’s arms, whether it be her mom’s or one of her big siblings. At night, Daddy can’t wait to try and get smiles from you the moment that he walks into the door. Grandparents can’t wait to FaceTime and see their growing grandchild and everyone adores the changes that come with each day.
I have to admit that Avery spends almost her entire waking time somewhere in a very close proximity to me (mom). So far, she has embraced life as the youngest sibling and is contently along for the ride of our life. She sits next to me in the bouncer while I fold laundry. She chills on her playmat while I cook dinner. And she hangs out in the front carrier while we walk the dogs. She joins baseball practices, dance classes, & preschool pick-ups. There are days where I hate to buckle her in the car seat one more time, but this is our life and thankfully, she just smiles and bears it 🙂
The biggest adventure that we went on this month was our big trip to Florida. Avery flew on her first airplane. (And we survived our first airplane ride with four kids!) Her feet touched the ocean for the first time. And she embraced one of our favorite things to do as a family, traveling. When people asked me how it was traveling with such a young baby, I have to admit that she is our “easiest” traveler of the four kids. At this age, she is content as long as she is fed and comforted. She slept wherever…may it be in the small travel crib we brought, or on the beach towel under the beach tent, or hanging out in the Baby Bjorn.
At three months, our little girl loves to sleep. She goes to sleep around 8 or 9 PM, often in the arms of Mommy & Daddy while we hang out downstairs for the last couple hours of the day. We carry her upstairs when we go to bed & Avery still sleeps in the Rock and Play next to our bed. She wakes up 1-2 times a night to feed, but is easy to get back to sleep as soon as she are done feeding. She still loves to be swaddled & can often be found with her beloved Wubbanub pacifier in your mouth. During the day, she often is napping in the swing or in the Rock and Play on our main level, not far from all the chaos and noise of our house. Every once in awhile, I love to snuggle and hold Avery just to have a sweet quiet moment with our little girl.
Avery nurses about every 2-4 hours, often right after she wakes up in the morning and after naps. I can often hold her off for about 10-20 minutes, but after that…she will make it very clear with loud cries and lots of tears that she is hungry. We continue to give her a bottle every few days. I have to admit that we aren’t super consistent with bottles, but thankfully she still takes them just fine!
If someone wants to find Avery, the first place to look is someone’s arms. Her siblings love to hold her, especially big sister Abby. At night, Mommy & Daddy love to hold our little girl while everyone else is tucked into their beds. If she isn’t hanging out in someone’s arms, then there are a few other places that she likes to be. Most likely, she is chilling in the swing, the bouncer, or on her playmat. That is, unless big sister isn’t around entertaining her with all of the toys in this house!
I am so thankful for the laid-back & happy girl that has blessed our life. When it comes to the third month of life, the newborn fog is almost gone & instead, it is time to embrace the sweet little baby that is in front of you. The three month smiles are contagious & those snuggles are ones to be cherished.
Happy Three Months Little Avery, We Love You So Much!
