Fun Fall Projects for Kids

October 11, 2012

We are really enjoying the fall. Our yard is covered in leaves & the girls just run through them, kick them around & make piles to jump in. Maggie also loves to collect leaves. She always wants to bring some inside, so I tried to find some fun things to do with them:

Supplies:

Leaves

Popsicle sticks

eyes & a nose

I saw this idea on The Mother Huddle & the kids think they are hysterical & fun to play with.

Preserve Leaves with Wax

I used to do this with my mom. It’s a fun way for the kids to save leaves before they crumble up all over your floor. The ones we made today didn’t come out so great, but I have seen people make them the size & shape of a placemat & use them for fall decor. They are great place mats because they wipe clean easily.

How to:

Place newspaper (or something like it) on the ironing board

Place one piece of wax paper on the newspaper – wax side up

Arrange leaves

Place another piece of wax paper on top – wax side down

Place newspaper on top & iron for about 30 secs on medium heat

Finger Print Tree

This project doesn’t involve leaves but is a fun one to do once the kids have seen all the leaves chaning colors & falling.

Draw a tree trunk & branches

Using stamp ink or paint, let the kids use their fingers to make leaves.

These are some cool t-shirts your kids have. I definitely would not mind getting one for my boy. 🙂

Love that wax paper leaf idea. So simple and easy. My Carson is a "gatherer" — he loves to find things outside and bring them home. This will be a great project for us today! Thanks for your constant creativity and generosity.

Loved the leaf puppets! I read somewhere recently that anything put on a popsicle stick is a rave with kids, and you've done just that. Thanks for linking with me, ladies.
