An Easy Way to Have Fun With Your Kids: Kiwi Crate

November 7, 2013

You all know that Courtney and I love to do fun activities with our kids!  But we understand that it isn’t always easy to do these crafts.  You have to think of an idea.  You have to make a plan on when you are going to do the craft.  You have to head to the store and buy the materials (and sometimes even more than one store!).  You have to store all the necessary art supplies somewhere in your house that you won’t lose them.  It’s no easy thing to do this if you are like any mom, BUSY (especially if you don’t feel called to be crafty)!  Today, we are excited to share about a super easy way for us busy moms to access fun and engaging activities and crafts to do with your kids.   Let me share a little more about Kiwi Crate.
Kiwi Crate : The Chirping Moms
Kiwi Crate is a subscription service that sends a box of hands-on crafts and activities to do with your child each month.  These activities focus on arts, crafts, science, and imaginative play.  Themes are created with kids ages 3 to 7 in mind.  Besides their subscription service, Kiwi Crate also offers gift crates and party packs (mini versions of their crates) to celebrate special occasions throughout the year.
On our doorstep recently, the boys and I were excited to find one of their special holiday crates all about Thanksgiving!  In this crate, the boys and I completed two activities:  a fun hands-on turkey game and turkey card holders for our Thanskgiving dinner!  For each craft, all supplies are provided.  Thankfully for most of the supplies there is an overabnudance so if you lose a wiggle eye or would like use lots of feathers, that is not a problem!  Each activity comes with detailed instructions to make the craft (for those who aren’t craft friendly!).

Activity One:  Thanksgiving Place Card Holders

This was the perfect activity to do in our household.  We are eagerly awaiting our Thanskgiving guests (my brother in laws) and are excited to be hosting a Thanskgiving dinner this year.  This is a fun idea on a way to get your kids involved in getting the festive table all ready for the big meal!  Aiden loved shaping the clay body and the activity involved lots of other little steps that he liked to complete: writing the names, sticking the feathers into the body, cutting out the felt beaks, and more.

Activity Two:  Thanksgiving Turkey Game

We created this fun Turkey box together with all the supplies provided (even crayons!).  Then, it was time for the real fun.  The boys took turns throwing a ball (again provided!) at the turkey trying to knock the feathers down or they got extra points if the whole turkey fell over.  What a perfect activity for some energetic boys!

I am super impressed with our Kiwi Crate box.  I loved having some time to with my children in this busy holiday season to slow down and create some fun activities.  Kiwi Crate has received several prestigious awards including:  Parents’ Choice Gold Award Winner, Dr. Toy’s 100 Best Children’s Product of 2012, and Toy Portfolio Gold Seal Best Toy Award.  To learn more about Kiwi Crate, make sure to head to their website.  You can buy Kiwi Crate in one month, three month, six month, or twelve month subscriptions.  One other thing I loved while reading through their website is that Kiwi Crate has a special ordering option for siblings.  Extra materials are includedin the “no fight” crate for less than ten dollars a month!  Kiwi Crate would make a great gift idea to add to a Christmas wish list for grandparents (or other relatives) to get your children or for you to send to a niece, nephew, or special child in your life.  Follow them on Facebook and Twitter to get their latest updates and deals.  Right now, you can get $10 off a subscription by clicking here!
