An Easy Weeknight Dinner Recipe: Pasta With Sausage & Broccoli

January 28, 2014

The Winter months usually bring a “recipe rut” to my kitchen. I don’t have the option of heading outside to use the grill, which seems to cut my meal ideas in half. I use the crockpot a lot, but also like to have some quick, easy recipes on hand. A few months ago, my cousin shared a great recipe with me. She said it’s one of her go-to weeknight meals & promised me it was easy. She is a great cook & many of my best dinner recipes came from her. So, I was excited to try another one of her favorites.

Well, a few months later, this recipe has become a go-to in our house too. It is so easy. I also add in other veggies too, if we have them in the fridge. I’ve added chopped asparagus & mushrooms. Also, if you like spicy foods, swap out the sweet sausage for spicy.

Pasta With Sausage & Broccoli

Ingredients:

Olive Oil

3 Cloves of Chopped Garlic

1 lb Sweet Italian Ground Sausage

Broccoli

1 lb Pasta (I like Orecchiette with this recipe, but any pasta can be used)

Directions:

Heat olive oil in pan. Add chopped garlic. After a minute add in the ground sausage. Cook the sausage until it’s done & then add in the broccoli. Cook pasta according to the directions. When you drain the pasta, reserve about 1/2 cup of water. Add the pasta & reserved water to the pan with the pasta & sausage. Mix & cook for about 3 min. Enjoy!
