Baby Shower Planning

February 19, 2013

Recently a friend & I planned a “pink” shower for Julie. It’s baby #3, but little girl #1 so we thought she needed a fun pink party to get ready!
There were 2 of us doing the planning, which I highly recommed. It made the party planning easier & more fun.
We had a onesie clothes line at the shower. We asked guests to bring a girl onesie & hang it on the line when they arrived. I hung this onesie from Designs by Source. I chose it because it’s called the “positive word” onesie. Julie is one of the most positive people I’ve ever met. I know all of the sweet words, that make up the heart on the onesie, are words she uses!
We kept with onesie theme with our desserts! Alex, my friend who hosted the shower with me, made these beautiful onesie cupcakes. She made onesies out of fondant.
Then we had these adorable onesie cookies from My Pink Little Cake for each guest to take home. This Etsy bake shop is based out of NJ & the cookies were beautiful & delicious! There were an assortment of onesie designs & lots of pink! My Pink Little Cake makes all of their cookies with organic ingredients.
As you might have noticed during Julie’s “Preparing for Baby” week on the blog, she’ll have some cute pink elephants in the nursery. I wanted to find a few printables for the party & found these from Katiedid Designs. All of the designs in the shop can be ordered in a variety of fun party accessories. I chose to make:
Thank you cards for Julie to use
A “Wishes for Baby” card that guests could fill out as a little party activity
A sign that Julie can now use to welcome home baby!
Shower Menu
We hosted a Sunday brunch & served:
Coffee, tea, mimosas & pink lemonade
Bagels, scones & croissants
Fruit Salad
Green Salad
Bacon & Egg Casserole
The casserole was a hit! I can’t take any credit for making it (most of the cooking was all Alex!). The recipe can be found on the McCormick website: Cheesy Bacon & Egg Brunch Casserole.
Now for a fun gift idea!
I always like to find onesies on Etsy for shower & baby gifts. They are unique & I love handmade gifts. These sets from Mia Sophia Boutique are awesome! Everyone loves baby leg warmers & having a onesie to match makes a perfect baby gift. These two sets are for Julie’s little lady on the way, but Mia Sofia offers some great boy sets too.
Our pink party was a lot of fun & we kept it pretty simple. It was fun getting together with friends & seeing all of the adorable baby girl clothes that Julie opened. I hope Julie had a great time getting ready for the baby!

Love the idea of the clothes line! I'm hosting a shower in May and will be doing this at the shower now! Can't wait to see what everyone picks!
