Since I was a child, I have always loved back to school shopping.  I loved heading to the store with my mom and picking out a few new outfits that were set aside just for the first week of school.  These clothes were hung in the closet and not to be touched until school had started.  Fast forward twenty five years later & I still get just as excited to do back to school shopping.  Instead of shopping for myself, now I get to spend some time shopping with my own kids for their very special school clothes.  I love heading to the store with them and browsing the racks of clothes until they find those few items that are special to each one of them.  This year, the kids & I got a head start to back to school shopping at one of our go-to stores for back to school shopping, Kohl’s.
Kohl’s has always been a favorite store to shop at because there is something for everyone & I have to say that I love the great prices.  There are always sales to be found & I love that you can combine the sales with their in-store coupons.  I also love that Kohl’s carries a variety of brands, so we can grab athletic wear, pajamas, & school clothes all at the same time and same place.  When I saw that they had a great sale on the new Carter’s line, I knew it was a great time to stock up for back to school season.  My kids have been wearing Carter’s since they were little babies & it still continues to be a brand that we trust and wear often.  Their clothes always come in fun patterns and prints and I love that each kid can find items from Carter’s that speak to their own style.
This year, the kids had fun picking out a few favorite items for back to school and we also grabbed several mix and match essentials for each kid.  Abby’s favorite outfit is her brand new puppy dog outfit.  We also found a couple other tees and leggings that we can mix and match.  Another favorite shirt includes the pony shirt that sparkles.  Also for little Abby, we picked out a few cute and comfortable short-sleeve dresses that will transition well from summer to fall because we just have to add the simple cotton leggings from Carter’s once it gets a bit chillier outside.
For the boys, I picked up both a pair of jeans & khaki pants on our shopping trip to Kohl’s.  These are must-haves for the boys and I love that the Carter’s pants come with the elastic drawstring waist so it’s easy to fit my skinny waisted boys.  Each boy also picked out their favorite t-shirts, including the fire truck shirt for my little firefighter and the bug graphic tee for my science loving oldest son.  With the great sale that was going on, I also picked up a long sleeve button down which is a fall staple in our house, so that the boys could use for school pictures and for special occasions.
Courtney also took advantage of the great back to school sale & picked up some great finds from the mix and match tops and bottoms you can find at Kohl’s.  The leggings from Carter’s are a key staple in her girls’ dressers and the new tops out for fall are simple yet girly.  The girls love their new clothes, especially the floral and puppy dog leggings.  When you head out to the door for back to school shopping this year, we wanted to share some of our favorite Back to School shopping tips.
BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING TIPS
1.  Plan ahead of time.  Use our checklist below to see what items you need before you head out on your shopping trip.
2.  Set a limit ahead of time on how many clothing items they can pick.  Make a list of what they need & look for those items.  Decide on a limit for shoes and accessories too.
2.  Don’t forget to grab essential items as well (socks, tights, etc).
3.  Take advantage of end of summer sales.  It’s a great time to pick up new tees and items that will transition into fall.  Don’t forget to use in-store coupons as well!
4.  Check to see if your state has tax-free shopping days.
5.  Enjoy this special time & truly embrace their style when shopping.  If they like the clothes, then you know they will wear them!
Below, we have created a simple Back to School checklist to help you get your kids’ closest ready for Back to School!

With back to school shopping season upon us, we hope that you print out our checklist and head to Kohl’s.  Right now, there is a great sale where you can get $10 off of your $40 purchase in-store and online from August 1-17th.  For in-store shopping, use the coupon below and for online shopping, use code: BTS10.
Kohl’s is a great place to find something for everyone & make sure to take advantage of their great sales.  The fun new line from Carter’s is great for toddlers, preschoolers, & even school aged children.  Kids can choose clothes are special and unique to their personality.  It’s hard to believe, but before you know it we will be saying “Hooray” for our first day of school!
