It’s starting to feel like fall. The leaves are changing colors. The nights are getting longer. And the crisp fall air is starting to roll in. Nothing says fall to our family more than a beautiful weekend getaway in the mountains…
Fall brings upon us the countdown for one of the kids’ favorite holidays of the year, Halloween. This month is filled with lots of Halloween events including the town’s Halloween parade, Trunk or Treat, school parades, & of course…trick or treating. Last week, the kids had fun pulling out some of our favorite Halloween decorations, putting on their new Halloween pajamas, & getting our house “boo”tified. We made a list of a few crafts & activities to do this month, kicking it off with this fun and creative Halloween craft: DIY Bat Pumpkin.
DIY Bat Pumpkin
Supplies Needed:
- Black Pumpkin
- 2 Pieces Glitter Black Adhesive Foam Sheets
- Scissors
- Wiggle Eyes
- Craft Glue
- Glue Gun
Directions:
1. Draw a bat wing onto the top half of the back of the black adhesive foam sheet. Cut it out using scissors.
2. Using the wing that you just cut out, trace it onto the adhesive sheet three more times to make the front and back of two wings. See the picture to see what you should end up with when done.
3. Using craft glue, adhere the wiggle eyes onto the black pumpkin.
4. To adhere the wings to the pumpkin, see the picture below. Remove the adhesive from the foam sheets and adhere together, but leave about a 1-1/2 inches at the end to stick to the pumpkin.
Once the kids finished creating the bat pumpkin, I used glue gun to secure the wings and eyes to the pumpkin so the pumpkin would not fall apart while sitting on our porch!
These little goblins were overjoyed to welcome the Halloween season with their very own Bat Pumpkin and some of the most adorable Halloween pajamas…
These festive Halloween pajamas come from this year’s Boden’s Halloween Hullabaloo line. The kids couldn’t be more excited about their new pajamas because not only do they celebrate the Halloween season, but all of their pajamas glow in the dark for a special haunted touch. Get into the spooky Halloween spirit with Boden’s line of Halloween clothes which includes: terrifying tops & t-shirts, dare to scare dresses, & petrifying pajamas. Boden’s Halloween clothes for kids are ready to scare, but yet so comfortable since everything is 100% cotton. Our kitten loves her scaredy cat dress, especially because the cat eyes glow up when she enters a dark room…
And when you see a cat in the house, there must also be a mouse around.
The cat dress from the Halloween line from Boden inspired me to create this little cat and mouse duo with Abby & Avery for the Halloween season. Abby put on her favorite cat dress. And then, all I had to do was add some simple cat ears to turn her into a little kitty. And right now, Boden has the cutest little Mouse cardigan & playwear set that can be used for everyday wear for Avery (but also doubled as a baby’s first Halloween costume!).
