The Chirping Moms

Best Summer Camps in New Jersey

May 7, 2019

By: Caren Villareal

It’s time to think summer! Now that the Easter Bunny has hopped away, it’s time for parents and kids to start really planning (or day-dreaming) about the lazy days of summer.  But we all know that too much laziness can be a recipe for disaster.  So, with that in mind, we’ve rounded-up a few exciting camps in the NJ – area that not only chase away the “I’m boreds,” but can help your children dabble in a few new areas and build some new interests.  We have some cool deals and a few giveaways too (see bottom of the post) for our readers. Now for the best summer camps in New Jersey:

Summer Camps in New Jersey

School of Rock, Clark NJ

This place is so cool.  It’s “the most revolutionary music school” and School of Rock will have your child rockin’ out in one of its cool summer camps.  It’s 4 and 5- day performance-based programs allow your child to learn several components of rock bands including percussion, keys, drums, bass, guitar and vocals.  In addition to learning to appreciate “mom and dad’s music,” (or even gram and gramps’s for that matter,) School of Rock can help your child build performance confidence, build camaraderie with a band and help them identify instruments that they may be interested in pursuing further (and become proficient in instruments they might already be playing in just 1 week.) Each camp has a performance at the school on the last day. Just beware – your kid may start tapping “drums” all over your house and taking over the car radio! Mention Chirping Moms and receive 20% off summer camps.   https://locations.schoolofrock.com/clark/music-camps

Fire Me Up Studios, Cranford NJ

Ready to spin the wheel? Engaging in pottery and other forms of art can be a very relaxing and rewarding way to cool-off during those dog days.  But Fire Me Up Studios does more than that.  The studio hosts camps that teach basic pottery skills and give kids the chance to finally get their own hands dirty and sculpt their own works.  In addition, the studio offers camps that teaches valuable lessons in environmental consciousness as well as self-expression and empowerment through art.  https://www.firemeupstudio.com/camps/

Young Rembrandts, Middlesex and Union Counties

Does your child leave their school’s art class yearning for more?  Perhaps you have stepped on a pastel or two or maybe have had to clean paint out of a pony tail on a couple of occasions.  If so, you may want to check out Young Rembrandts, part of a national franchise with a strong presence through schools and community centers here in New Jersey.  The classes and camps offer step-by-step instruction in drawing, spatial-reasoning and visualization across a variety of mediums.  The classes can help your child identify their passions or further develop them while at the same time giving you something to frame for your family room.  Check out this website  https://www.youngrembrandts.com/about-us/our-story/ for information about the company and opportunities for involvement in your area or contact Pam Hubinsky directly for classes held in NJ at  pam.hubinsky@youngrembrandts.com

Pulse Camps, New Jersey

Summer’s not summer without engaging in sports activities, right?  Partnered with Nike and offered at some of the top educational institutions in NJ, Pulse sports camps offer tremendous opportunities for children aged 5 to 14 to hone in on those sports that they pursue during the school year or maybe even chances to try some new ones.  First and foremost, the coaches want the children to have fun and come away with positive associations with the sport. That said, there is an emphasis on personal development, competitive play and significant goals and aims for each program in the areas of basketball, soccer, tennis, golf, volleyball and multi-sport. A lucky Chirping Moms’ reader will be allowed to participate in a Pulse Camp free of charge.  Comment on the blog post and/or this Facebook post to enter.  https://www.pulsecamps.com/

HOME Power Yoga, Cranford, New Jersey
