Build A Snowman: Craft + Book + Snack

January 24, 2016

This is a really easy kids craft and a really easy snack. I like the craft, book and snack below because they are great for a large age range (toddler to Kindergarten+). I used the Craft + Book + Snack in my daughter’s pre-k 4 class and it was a lot of fun and all of the kids enjoyed it. My kids love the book The Biggest Snowman and I like it too because of the great message about working together. After reading about the mice building a snowman, it was fun to use the paper and craft supplies to build our own snowmen. I wanted to make a snowman craft that was cheerful and colorful so we added some bright colors in when building them. Happy snow day!

Craft: Build a Colorful Snowman

Supplies:

Colored Cardstock (we used shades of blue and purple)

White Cardstock for snowman’s body

Black paper for hat

Google eyes

Orange paper or foam sheet to cut out carrot noses

Colorful pom poms

Black pipe cleaners

Black marker to draw mouth

Colorful ric rac or ribbon for scarf

Craft glue

Directions: For the pre-K class, I cut out the 3 different size white “snow balls” and hats ahead of time. For older kids, you could have them trace and cut out all of the parts themselves. Hand out all of the supplies and glue to the children and let them use them to “build a snowman”.

Book: The Biggest Snowman

Snack: String Cheese Snowmen

This is a really easy snowman snack! Just get while (we used mozzarella) string cheese. Use Shaprie markers to draw a snowman’s face on the outside of the wrapper. It’s also very easy to transport to school if you are sending the snack in. The kids loved them!
