Creating A Special Gift for Grammy With DR Gifts

For personal holiday gifts, especially for grandparents, photo gifts are always a hit. This year, I wanted to give my mom a special holiday photo gift using some of the pictures from our recent trip to London. It was a memorable adventure for 3 generations: me, my mom and Maggie. I wanted to include Maggie in choosing the photo gift, so we walked over to Duane Reade together to check out this seasons DR Gifts. We were greeted by lots of Duane Reade Holiday cheer & gifts, but went over the photo to get to work.

We picked up two helpful flyers that showed the DR gifts available this season. Last year we made mugs for the grandparents and they were a bit hit. After some browsing, we decided on photo coasters. We’ve never made coasters with our photos and thought using pictures from London would make a cool set!

I let Maggie help use the photo machine. It’s really easy to use and guides you through the process. It was great to let Maggie help out & see our project start to come to life.

Some of the DR gifts are ready right away, but the coasters take a little time. We will have them in time for Christmas. Here is a preview of the 4 coasters we made:

Some of the other Duane Reade Holiday photo gifts available are: canvas prints, iPad sleeves, phonoe cases, reusable shopping bags, and even a puzzle with it’s own tin. They also have a wide selection of photo cards for the holidays.

After we left, Maggie said “I want London picture for my room!”. I didn’t think she needed a set of coasters, so we used the Duane Reade photo app to create a photo collage for her. We made the whole thing on my phone and we were able to pick it up later that day. Maggie is thrilled with how it came out.  Now we can’t wait for our coasters to be completed so we can wrap them up to surprise Grammy on Christmas day!
