DIY Halloween Costume for Brothers: Pixar’s UP

September 20, 2019

I’ve been wanting to make this DIY costume for years. The movie UP makes me cry every time and seeing these brothers dressed as the main characters really warms my heart. These DIY UP costumes for kids were so easy to make. We actually had a lot of the supplies already and can be reused. My boys got a kick out of dressing up as Russell and Carl and loved the bunch of balloons. I’ve linked to everything below. If it was something we already had, I tried to find something similar.

Here’s how we made these simple DIY costumes for siblings:

DIY UP Costumes for Kids

DIY Russell from Up:

  • Yellow baseball cap
  • Yellow polo shirt
  • Orange bandanna
  • Brown scout sash
  • Backpack (any backpack will do!)
  • Khaki shorts
  • Hiking Boots (we used ones we had – you could really use any shoes)

DIY Carl from UP:

  • Glasses
  • Black bow tie
  • Grey sweater
  • Black or navy pants

Carl’s walker: We went to Home Depot and got 3 of the 2ft small pvc pipes. We had them cut one in half. We found the 2 pvc pieces to connect them in the aisle right next to the pipes. Then we cut a slit in 2 tennis balls to add onto the bottom.

Last, but not least, we added a bunch of rainbow balloons to put the finishing touch on our DIY Up costumes!
