The Chirping Moms

Add A Little Joy with a Door of Hearts

January 23, 2022

We really enjoy Valentine’s Day at our house. From the crafts to the treats and parties we love to celebrate a holiday all about LOVE. I’ve seen this done a few ways over the years as a way to make kids feel special at Valentine’s Day: covering their door with hearts with messages. I decided instead of me writing out all of the hearts we would put our own little spin on it and make it a place for the whole family to let each other know how much we love them during the month. We got a Kid Made Modern Valentine’s Craft Collection box and got to work.

First I explained the goal to all of the kids: during the first 2 weeks of February, leading up to Valentine’s Day, we’d make hearts for each other and stick them to their doors. Since the 3 boys share a room, we decided one would get the door to the room, one would get the closet door and for Teddy: we’d decorate the outside of one of one side of his crib. My girls love Valentine’s Day decor so they were excited the doors to their new rooms would look decorated.

I said to kick things off, they should each make one per person in the family. I said I would then put those up February 1st and after that they could make and add hearts to each others doors as they please. I suggested that if their sibling did something nice for them or they did a great job at a sports game… really any reason to “add a heart” they should. I can’t wait to see how the doors look by Valentine’s Day!

Kid Made Modern Valentines

The Valentine’s Craft Collection box from Kid Made Modern is perfect for this project. There are tons of hearts, paper, decorations, etc. It even includes glue & glue dots. All of the hearts you see in these photos we made using what was inside the box. It comes with over 250 pieces and I love that you can put it all back into the box to craft more later. I told the kids I’d leave the box out during the next few weeks so they could add more hearts to the doors.

Order your kit soon for plenty of time to craft. Kid Made Modern also has other cute kits that can be used for Valentine’s Day. We’ll share more soon but to shop them all, click here.

If you do a Door of Hearts with your family, tag us in photos @thechirpingmoms I’d love to see them and show my kids! For more of our Valentine’s Day activities for kids, click here to visit the Valentine page of the blog!
