One of my daughters loves princess dresses. She has for years. She would wear a princess dress everywhere and as she grows she still loves to dress up. One thing she has never liked about dressing up: if the costumes aren’t “soft”. Even when we do to Disney World, she loves all the gowns but has to wear soft clothes underneath. Over the years I’ve tried ways of making comfortable princess dresses. This year we came up with a simple, comfortable DIY Snow White Dress.
We started with an Alice and Ames blue dress. These are our absolute favorite dresses because they are super soft but also the best for twirling.
Then I made a yellow and red apron without sewing! It was SO easy.
You want to cut a square and a rectangle out of the yellow fabric. Then, instead of hemming it with a sewing machine, simply fold the edges and hot glue (easy!). Then, attached the square to the rectangle with hot glue. Last hot glue on thin red ribbon to tie it, a red ribbon bow and a wide red ribbon around the waist to tie in the back in a big bow. Add a red headband or make one with the red ribbon.
Now you have a super simple Snow White costume and when you’re done, you can remove the apron and wear the dress.
These were so easy and inexpensive to make that they’d be fun to make for a princess birthday party!
