Easy DIY Valentine’s Day Decor: 2 Ideas for a Valentine Canvas

January 12, 2016

Ready to break out the Valentine’s Day decorations? If you’re on the hunt for some pretty, new decor ideas, today we are sharing two simple DIY Valentine’s Day projects. Both are on canvas and don’t take much time at all.

Pink Stripes & Glitter Hearts Canvas

Supplies:

8X10 canvas

Masking tape

Pink paint

1 inch foam paint brush

Glitter paper

Heart hole punches. I used these two: small heart, large heart

Directions:

Use the masking tape to create stripes on the canvas. Make sure the tape is pulled tight and really stuck onto the canvas or the paint will get under it. Use the pink paint to paint over the whole canvas. When it is completely dry, remove the masking tape to reveal your pink stripes. While the paint is drying, use the heart hole punches & glitter paper to make some glittery hearts. Make as many as you like. Glue the glitter hearts to the canvas and you now have a lovely Valentine’s Day decoration!

Ombre Cork Canvas

Supplies:

8X10 canvas (can be made larger too)

Craft glue or hot glue

Red, white, light pink and hot pink craft paint

Cork. I used a bag of craft corks from Amazon. I wanted the flat cork look and then I’ll use rest of the corks for other crafts. You could also collect regular corks from wine bottles and cut them or leave them whole and have more of a “popped out”.

Directions:

Use the corks to make a heart shape on the canvas. It took a few tries to get a good shape, so I recommend putting them all in place without glue before actually glueing them in place. Once you have a shape you like, use the craft glue to secure all the corks. Use the various Valentine’s Day colors to paint the cork to create an hombre look. Let dry. Now you have another lovely Valentine’s decoration ready to use!
