3 Easy Patriotic Crafts for Kids

June 13, 2021

Are you following along with our #30daysredwhiteblue on Instagram? If you visit that hashtag you’ll see all the fun crafts, recipes, outfits, decor and more that my friend Vicki (@sprinklesandcherriesblog) have been creating over the past month. Below are 3 easy patriotic crafts for kids that I recently shared.

These are fun to do on a rainy day or even to let kids do at a 4th of July BBQ to keep them busy (maybe not the painting one!!). They’re also cute summer camp crafts. Wherever you create these easy red, white and blue crafts, I hope you have fun.

3 Easy Patriotic Crafts for Kids

Easy DIY Patriotic Planters

I did this craft a few years ago with the girls and this week let the boy try it. We ended up with some pretty fun outside “decor” for Memorial Day Weekend

It’s fun for all ages: toddlers & preschoolers will enjoy the foam stickers & bigger kids can make more of a pattern or design and then do the planting themselves.

Supplies:

Red, white & blue foam star stickers
Small metal buckets
Plants

Directions: Let the kids design the metal buckets with the red, white and blue stickers. Add some plants and you have patriotic planters ready for Memorial Day or 4th of July.

Paper Plate Star Wreath

Here’s a festive way to decorate for 4th of July and bonus: it will keep the kids busy for a little while!

Supplies: paper plate, star stickers, ribbon

Directions: Cut out the center of the paper plate. Give the kids the paper plate “ring” and a big pile of red, white & blue star stickers (I used foam star stickers).Have them cover the plate with tons of stars. Add some ribbon for a bow and at the top to hang the wreath.

Straw Stamping Fireworks

This is a fun one! Also… it’s not nearly as messy as it sounds. I let my boys & their pal make them this week and no people or furniture were covered in paint at the end

Supplies: paper, red & blue paint, 5 bendy straws, tape, paper plate or something to put paint on

Directions: Start by taping the 5 straws together. Tape them in the middle so the bottom is free to “bend”. Bend them all out so it looks like a star/firework shape. Put some red and blue paint on the paper plate. Use the straw “firework” as a stamp in the paint and stamp the paper. You do have to sometimes press down on the straws to really get a good stamp show up.
