The Chirping Moms

Favorite Books for Babies & Toddlers

November 7, 2014

Bedtime.  This is one of my favorite times of the day with my toddler.  She goes & goes all day long, just like her mama!  So, I cherish this moment at the end of the day when we both slow down our pace and take some time to cuddle in the rocking chair, read books, and kiss goodnight.

Something about this time change has us getting ready for bed much earlier than we were a week ago.  We eat dinner at the same time, but now that it is dark, things have changed.  Instead of heading out to play or go on an evening walk, it’s time to get in our pajamas to play together as a family and then snuggle together to read books.  I love reading with my kids and treasure any moment where I can get them to sit still, slow down, & cuddle with me.  Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite book and pajama picks for little ones right now.

First, let me share 30 of my favorite board books for babies & toddlers:

And now, you can’t talk about bedtime without talking about fun pajamas for little ones.  We are grateful that Abby has several hand-me-downs between her older brothers & some close friends of ours, but each season I search for a few new pairs of adorable and snuggly pajamas for my kids.   My latest pick for Abby this fall was the Party Owls pajama set found in online shop, Shop Sugar Bit.  I thought this fun owl print, from Hatley, was the perfect new set to add to her pajama collection.  The pajamas are super soft, cute, and perfect for my little night owl!

Here are some of my other favorite pajama finds from Shop Sugar Bit:

So yes, I’m never a fan of the time change.  But, I’m learning to embrace that extra hour of darkness I have at night.  I’m choosing to put on my pajamas a little earlier in the evening, snuggle with my little ones, & soak up these quieter and tender moments with them as I read stories with them by my side.  Before you know it, spring and summer will arrive again.  Our evenings will, once again, be filled with bike rides, walks with our dogs, and playing in the backyard.  And as much as I love the moments with my little outside, I know that I will start to yearn again for these quieter moments of snuggles and stories.    So heres’ to happy reading, happy snugging, & happy bedtime as the season on shorter days and longer nights is upon us!
