We love dressing in red, white and blue for patriotic holidays! The week before Memorial Day our preschool has a little parade around town and then on Memorial Day the town has a big parade! We have always done to watch and now that the kids are getting older, their sports teams and scout troops march. Then, 4th of July is all about USA in our house! Sometimes we travel and sometimes we stay close to home, but we always sport our red, white and blue. A few years ago, we came up with these easy DIY patriotic hair bows and my kids call them the “firecracker hair ties”. They are fun to make and as I am preparing to make some new ones for this summer, I thought I’d share how to make them. They are so easy and really fun for a group of kids marching in a parade to make themselves. Here’s how to make:

Easy DIY Patriotic Hair Bows

Firecracker Hair Tie Supplies:

  1. Hair tie (I just used some we had around the house
  2. Different red, white and blue ribbon

Firecracker Hair Tie Directions:

Cut the ribbons – I suggest about 4-5 and different widths. Even yarn works! The length is totally up to you. Tie them in a knot around the hair tie. Enjoy!

Pin this DIY for later!
