Friday Favorites: Favorite Etsy Shops For Girls’ Spring & Summer Clothes

April 12, 2013

I really enjoy finding clothes for my girls on Etsy. There are so many great shops. There is something special about having some handmade items each season. We are lucky that we get a few from my mom (she is one very talented Grammy!), but I always get some items on Etsy too. These are my top choices  for girls’ clothes:

Dresses: Pleated & Cuffed

Seersucker dresses are my favorite for the girls in the summer (& seersucker for me too!). I found these dresses from Pleated & Cuffed & they are so different then any other seersucker dresses I have seen. They are even more beautiful in person & so well made! Also, even though they look dressy, they are also really comfortable. I tried them on my girls when they arrived & they didn’t want to take them off!

Be sure to follow along with Pleated & Cuffed on Facebook for shop updates. Our readers receive 10% off code: chirping10

Pleated & Cuffed offered sleeveless pleated collar A-line dresses in a variety of striped seersuckers, chevrons and trendy fabric. All dresses come with complimentary collar and monogram colors. There are box pleated pillowcase style dress, ruffled pillowcase dress and an adorable skirt with coordinating sash.  The shop also offers boys cuffed seersucker shorts to coordinate with the dresses.

Here is a little more about the shop, from the owner, Shannon:

I grew up with a mother who sewed cute dresses for my sister and me. And she was raised by a mother who had done the same.  Shortly after I got were married, I decided I wanted to learn to sew – so I did what any good college graduate with a degree in math & biology would do – I bought a book and read it. I started sewing by making a quilt top – I assumed it would be the simplest item to start with – straight lines, triangles and squares – it’s simple and ALL math. In spite of my love for math and science, I’ve always been the more “artistic” one in my family – willing to try a new craft, make a new project, anything creative! So the quilt top turned into bags which turned into clothing and I’ve never looked back. For the last 4 years, I’ve really been busy with orders from friends and friends of friends. Word of mouth really is great! As we wait for the adoption of our baby girl, Emma, I am super excited to soon make ALL my samples for our sweet, long-awaited baby girl.

Bubbles: Palmetto Patch Kids

Bubbles are such a cute part of summer fashion for kids. I’m sad Maggie is getting too big for most of them, so I am stocking up for Alex this summer! The bubbles from Palmetto Patch Kids are bright, fun & very well made. They are fully lined & the bows at the shoulders come off for washing.

For $28, these beautiful well made bubbles, are a great price. The price even includes the personalization. When ordering, you can “build your own bubble” & chose the fabric color, bow color & initial thread color. I can’t wait for Julie’s sweet little Abby to fit into this bubble that came for her!

Here is a little more about the shop, from the owner, Courtney:

Well, first and foremost, the inspiration for my passion of sewing and creating fun, sweet outfits is my daughter, Maddie Grae. Because of having a daughter, as you know, girls can be very, VERY expensive so I thought ‘why not teach myself to sew and make her clothes for a fraction of the cost’ and then the rest of the story is history! We are from South Carolina, the Palmetto State so hence the name Palmetto Patch kids. (And a little inspiration from Cabbage Patch Kids ;)) But basically as a graduate student and a stay at home mom, it enables me to keep my creative juices flowing and most importantly, I get to spend these impressionable, special years with Maddie Grae.

Onesies: That’s Sew Yarn Cute

If you have a tiny little girl to dress this summer, like Julie does, head over to That’s Sew Yarn Cute. The shop is run by a mother-duaghter team in WA. They have some adorable onesies. The tiny bows added on are so sweet & so is the giant strawberry!

You can follow along with them on Facebook too!
