The Chirping Moms

Gift Ideas for Grandparents

August 9, 2013

Today is my moms birthday! I spent a while trying to think of some gifts the girls could make their Grammy. I wanted something handmade, that we hadn’t already given her.

Here’s what we came up with:

Hand Print Book Bag

Grammy is a high school English teacher. She loves book bags. I’ve given her one with their picture on it (printed on Vistaprint.com) but thought this year the girls could help me make one. We got this plain canvas tote at the craft store. Maggie & Alex each picked their 2 favorite colors to make their “flowers”. Then I helped make the stems.

Stepping Stone

Grammy is also a wonderful gardener. I thought a stepping stone made by her granddaughters would be a fun addition to her yard. We got a kit at the craft store. It’s a messy project, but fun. I let the girls “decorate” it all on their own. It came with glitter, stones, etc. You can also do hand prints or foot prints on the stones.

Instagram Magnets

Grammy isn’t on Instagram, but loves when I text her some of my IG pictures. I recently found StickyGram & think it’s such an easy, inexpensive way to make a gift. Some of my favorite pictures are on Instagram & the site links right up to your account for fast ordering. It’s $14.99 for a sheet of 9. If you use code: FRIENDOMAP you can get $2 off (only $12.99 + free shipping!). What grandparent wouldn’t want your Instagram pictures on their fridge?!

Any other grandparent gift ideas to share? We’ll need a lot of great gift ideas when the holiday season approaches!

Such beautiful gift ideas! I am sure she will be thrilled to receive these. Although they are all creative my favourite is the book bag.
    Happy birthday to your mom!
