Friday Favorites: Last Minute Father’s Day Ideas and a Peek into our Master Bedrooms

June 15, 2012

First of all, we are linking over at Kelly’s Korner again for her spotlight on master bedrooms!  Now, I just have to warn you all that we both live in the NYC suburbs where our houses are 90 years old, which means SMALL master bedrooms!  As you can see, we both had a really hard time even capturing a picture of the room.
I had to be creative when we moved here because our previous master bedroom was SO much bigger.  But we snugly fit in both of our his and her dressers as well as our queen size bed, but that is it!  I do like this room, although I feel like I could do more to it (with all the spare time I have, ha!).  But I do have things that I LOVE in it…
  • Our West Elm yellow curtains—don’t you love this color?
  • Our Pottery Barn duvet cover.  I was looking and looking for exactly the right thing and then I found this beauty on sale!
  • And our Brian Andreas Storypeople prints.  I LOVE these art prints and it is a small piece of our house that connects to Iowa, as that is where Brian Andreas and I were both born!
Here’s a shot of our SMALL bedroom…

And this is the closet I share with my husband (who happens to have to wear a full suit everyday to work, so you can only imagine who gets ALMOST all of the closet space!).  Although we did decide to store a lot of his clothes on a bar in the attic because the closet was SO cluttered!  I finally added some shelves on the bottom to give myself a little more space;)  I don’t think I will hear anyone fighting for a closet like this anytime soon…

And now down the street to Courtney’s house.  Doesn’t she have an adorable bedspread?  And can you tell who LOVES this room—yes that’s Jersey, their dog!
Both us will dream of bigger bedrooms and walk-in closets, especially after seeing all the wonderful ones linked up to Kelly’s Korner, but for now we are content with our cozy little rooms!
And now on to some Friday Favorites.  We wanted to share some last minute Father’s Day gifts that we found around the web and added to our Pinterest page…
First, we recommend a shirt from Sevenly.org—A friend just told me about this today and I love this concept!  For every tee purchased, seven dollars goes to that week’s designated charity. Really cool website, check it out.
If you want to go the DIY route, check out these two awesome ideas…
A Back Scratch shirt where children drive on their daddy’s back while Dad takes a rest and this awesome idea of DIY Toddler Art shirt.
And check out the most adorable Personalized Plate I have ever seen.  And if your husband loves honey roasted peanuts as much as mine does, then this is a perfect idea!
Now, my husband is not musically inclined at all, but I LOVE these guitar picks.  And you will want a simple dessert after a long day of chasing the kids (while your husband is taking the day to hit the driving range and lounge on the couch in front of ESPN), then I think root beer floats are the definite way to go! Last, but not least, check out these free Father’s Day Printable coupons created by Parents.com.
Hope all of you have a wonderful Father’s Day weekend!!!
And scroll down to Monday’s giveaway post to see our winner announced…….

I love that you introduced us to Sevenly. Never heard of it and love the concept. I'm a big fan of U28's pro-marriage tees, and now I have somewhere else to check out. Thanks for stopping by my blog, Julie.

Stopping by via Kelly's Korner today!

Love your bedroom colors. You've really put together a warm and comfortable space!

My husband would have enjoyed the nuts.

I love your bedspread! It's so beautiful.

As you can tell I'm a bit behind on my blog reading!
