The Chirping Moms

Friday Favorites: Stokke Tripp Trapp

May 3, 2013

It’s been 3 & a half years since the first piece of baby gear entered our house. After our baby shower, we were so excited to start putting gear together & even more excited for our little one to come into the world & try it out. I spent a lot of time trying to decide on what to register for. It’s hard to choose products for a baby you have never met. You register for what safest, most economical, looks cute etc (or at least I did). Looking back now, I wish I took along a Mom with me. Not a new mom (no offense new moms) but maybe one with 2 or 3 kids. I got a lot of gear I really didn’t need.

Since I brought that first piece of baby gear into the house 3 & a half years ago, we have brought MANY more items home. I said I wouldn’t buy a thing for baby #2, but of course I did. There were things I wish I had with #1 that I insisted I needed with #2. There were also things we had with #1 that I really disliked & didn’t want to use a 2nd time around. My husband often tells me “If there’s a #3, there is absolutely no more gear along with him or her”.

There is one piece of gear that I have had a particularly hard time “getting right”: the high chair/ booster seat. I have tried MANY (we’ve used a total of 8 different seats). We finally found the perfect fit: The Stokke Tripp Trapp. Not only was this perfect high chair for wiggly, squirmy, “won’t stay in a chair” Alex, but it easily transitioned into the perfect alternative to a booster seat. AND….

It became the FIRST ever baby gear item that I loved so much I bought a SECOND. When Alex started sitting in it without the baby attachment, Maggie was still in a booster at the table. I was shocked watching the two of them at the table. Alex, 18 months younger, looked more stable & comfortable. She looked like she was at the perfect height for dinning. Maggie quickly noticed how much better Alex’s seat was & there was a battle for the Tripp Trapp at every meal. Then it was my husband, the “no more gear in this house” guy that actually thought it would be a great idea to get another.

The Stokke Tripp Trapp truly grows along with your child. I joked that my girls will sit in their chairs until they go to college & someone from Stokke told me that their son took his with him to college! I’ve had more than one adult guest over that sits in the chair & asks “where did you get this great chair?”.

How does it grow with your child?

Both, the foot plate and the seat plate are adjustable for the comfort and ergonomic growth of your child. Also, the highchair allows your child to come to the table with you and interact with you as you laugh and share smiles over the dinner table. The chair holds up to 300 lbs. and therefore can be used for life!  The girls also use their chairs at the kitchen counter when they want to help me cook.

These chairs are more of an investment then many high chairs out there, but well worth it. They are built to last & come with a 7 year warranty. Also, if you ad up the cost of the high chairs, boosters, & other chairs you could buy over those 7 early years, you’ll realize it’s worth it to just get one quality seat. I’ve seen great deals on Diapers.com for the Tripp Trapp & it’s accessories. It’s made entirely of wood & comes in many colors. Like most things in life: “you live & you learn”. That’s been the case for me with finding baby gear items. I’m so glad I found the Stokke Tripp Trapp. It’s made meal time feel so much more like a family gathering at the table. Oh & they make clean up MUCH easier too!

I was not compensated for this post. I did receive one of the Tripp Trapps for review. As always, all opinions are my own.
