Fun Winter Craft for Kids: Snowman Luminary

January 7, 2019

By: Ali McNulty

Here’s a fun winter craft for kids. This Snowman luminary is also a great craft to use as a gift for Christmas and makes a great class project for elementary school students. It lights up and will be great decor to leave out all winter long.

Snowman Luminary

Supplies:

  • Mason jar
  • Frosty snowflakes
  • Mod Podge
  • Hot glue gun (optional)
  • Paintbrush
  • 2 large pom poms
  • Pipe cleaner
  • 2 buttons
  • Orange quick-dry clay
  • Battery operated tealight candle

Directions:

Remove top to mason jar.  Pour fake snow onto paper plate. Brush Mod Podge onto entire jar. Roll in fake snow.  Let dry. While the jar is drying, use Mod Podge or a hot glue gun to attach pom poms and pipe cleaner to the mason jar lid.  Sculpt a small carrot nose out of the orange quick dry clay. Use Mod Podge to glue on button eyes and “carrot” nose. When the snowman is dry, drop the tealight into the gar, twist on the top and enjoy Frosty’s glow!
