Getting Creative With Wedding Gifts At Target

December 31, 2013

This post is in partnership with Target. I received a Target gift card to help me create a wedding gift. As always, all opinions are my own.  #TargetWedding

Whenever I go to a party, regardless of the occasion, I like to try & come up with a creative, thoughtful gift. Then, I enjoy wrapping the gift even more. My husband thinks I am a little crazy when it comes to wrapping gifts. We have been late to parties due to wrapping mishaps. For the past few years, many of the parties I have gone to have been wedding related: engagement parties, wedding showers, bachlorette parties & of course the big wedding day. For someone that likes to get creative with gifts & wrapping, wedding registries aren’t always fun. Don’t get me wrong, of course I want to give the happy couple the gifts they selected & registered for, but it takes away from the fun of having the “hunt” for the perfect gift. Lately, i’ve found a way to get creative with wedding gift giving, while staying true to the couples registry. It’s fun to pick a few things off the registry & put them together with some fun, creative additions. The best place to do this: Target.

I love when I find out a couple is registered at Target. They have such a wide range of gifts & prices. The couple can add essentials & while you’re shopping, you can add a few fun things to go along with the gift.

My cousin & her fiance registered at Target. They registered for a Half Pint Soft-Serve Ice Cream Maker. I was on the hunt for a great gift to give them over the holidays, so I got them the ice cream maker & added some fun touches of my own. My cousin is one of the sweetest people in the world, so I went with a “Life is Sweet” theme for the gift.

What was included in the gift:

1. Hamilton Beach Half Pint Ice Cream Maker

2. White Ice Cream Bowls

3. Spritz Bright Polka Dot Napkins

4. Rainbow Sprinkles

5. Mini Wooden Spoons (Left over from my daughters birthday party)

6. White Picture Frame

7. “Life is Sweet” Print (printed at home)

I also added some pink tissue paper & felt flowers that I had on hand. They’re Spritz from Target.

A few of my other favorite wedding gifts at Target:

1. Fitness: If you notice the couple registered for something fitness related (weights, kettlebells, etc), add a yoga mat, water bottles & gym towels to the gift

2. Healthy Couple: Many couple’s register for the Magic Bullet or Juice Bullet. You can add a bag of Superfood Boost, a cutting board & even a bunch of bananas!

3. Pizza Party: One gift that I use all the time is our pizza stone. Target has a great selection of pizza stones. You can pare it with a pizza cutter, & one of Giada’s delicious sauces.

4. Winer Lover: If you are buying wine glasses off a couple’s registry, it’s a great idea to get them a storage container to keep them safe. It’s also fun to include a Wine Tasting Notebook.

5. Holiday Theme: Many couples will register for holiday dishes. This Rachel Ray set is my favorite. Depending on the time of year, you can find other great holiday home items to add to the gift. I love giving couples a Christmas tree skirt & ornament. You could even take the tree skirt to have it embroidered with the couples last name!

Target’s wedding theme is “Be Yourself, Together”, which goes along great with giving couples fun, creative gifts! What are some of your favorite gifts to give couples? This is so cute. When I got married my husband had metal photo printing of our pictures through out the years made for all the tables at the reception. It was a complete surprise to me and all the guests loved them. It turned out to be a great party favor.

The best wedding gift we received was from close friends who had our invitation framed with pressed flowers. It is just gorgeous and such a memorable and thoughtful gift. We've since given this to other friends who have gotten married recently and they love it as well.
