March 19, 2014

A few months ago, I met Destiny from Suburban Wife, City Life. She’s a super creative mom and her blog is always fun to read. Last month her family invited me, Maggie and Alex to their Doc McStuffins Playdate, which was a blast! If you’re looking for cute ideas for a kids party, check out her post. For today, we’re excited to have Destiny guest posting on our blog, to share a great way to decorate Easter eggs with kids. Enjoy!

Egg Decorating With Temporary Tattoos

Easy Egg Decorating || The Chirping Moms

Decorating eggs has always been one of my favorite parts of Easter.  I love sharing such a fun tradition with my kids, but having younger kids I like to keep activities as easy and mess free as possible.  Don’t get me wrong, I love to have them covered in paint and dye, but sometimes you want to keep the clean-up to a minimum.

I recently bought some temporary tattoos for a party and had a bunch leftover.  That’s when it hit me, why not use them to decorate eggs!  It’s easy enough that my 2 year old can help and my 4 year old loves doing it herself.  Plus it doesn’t have to be Easter to decorate eggs, this also makes a perfect indoor or rainy day activity year round.

Here’s what you need:
-Hard boiled eggs
-temporary tattoos
-sponge and paper towel
-water

Step 1- Hard boil the eggs and let them cool
Step 2 – Pick the tattoo you want to put on the egg
Step 3- Put water on the paper towel or sponge
Step 4- Press the tattoo to the dry egg and dab with the wet paper towel or sponge
Step 5- Once the tattoo has adhered to the egg pull the paper off and pat with a dry paper towel
Step 6- TADA!  Your egg is done

Another bonus for me is it’s easy to know which eggs are hard boiled and which aren’t.  We eat a lot of hard boiled eggs here.

So the next time you get temporary tattoos or see them on sale, grab them and make some hard boiled eggs for some fun and easy egg decorating!
