Holiday Crafting for Moms: Ribbon Tree and JOY letters!

December 4, 2012

For more holiday inspiration,  please follow our Pinterest boards for our latest pins, including all our favorite holiday ideas!

A couple fun, simple, and festive crafts to share with you today…
Another Pinterest night has come and gone in this area of the world—it’s one of my favorite times!  Good friends, good food, good drinks (for those of us who aren’t pregnant), and LOTS of crafting.
My favorite creation from this week is the Ribbon Christmas Tree!  It’s SUPER easy to make and SUPER cute!
Supplies Needed:
  • Assorted Ribbon (We used mostly green with accents and a brown piece for the trunk)
  • Canvas
  • Glue Gun/Glue Sticks
  • Sticker/Button/Etc. for the Star!

All you do is create ribbon loops and glue them onto the canvas into the shape of the tree.  I did a multi-layer tree to give it a little more fullness, but you could really get creative here and decide what you like best!  Everyone did theirs a little differently and they all turned out cute.  Add the trunk and add the star and VOILA—an adorable Christmas tree!

And I’m sharing another simple craft with y’all:  a little JOY to bring into your house this holiday season!

Supplies Needed:

  • JOY wooden letters
  • Craft paint (Red, White, Green)
  • Glue Gun/Glue Sticks
Paint the letters white and let dry.  Then paint on the red stripes to make it look like a candy cane.  (You may have to do a  few coats!)  Paint the canvas green.  Glue the JOY onto the canvas and that’s it!
I think it adds just a little more JOY to our eating room window, don’t you think?!

Hi there! What a fun tree that is! I hadn't thought about using ribbon that way on a 2 dimensional surface! Great thinking!

    Happy Christmas!

These are adorable! I'm trying to keep my crafting self in check this holiday season. We just have other preparations to make — the whole baby coming in March thing! Not to mention keeping the toddler engaged with Advent. BUT…these are so cute!
