Kids Christmas Party Idea: Holiday Shirt Making Party

December 10, 2015

This past week we had a really fun get together with some of Maggie’s best pals. We spent the afternoon making holiday shirts and drinking hot chocolate. I kept things super simple and we all had a blast and came away with some pretty impressive Christmas shirts! Here’s what we did:

Ahead of time I sent an email to the moms with picture of an assortment of fabric appliqués from Once Upon A Design, an Etsy shop. I asked them to have their children pick their favorite. I ordered the appliqués and had them all ready for the party. Each child showed up with a blank shirt.

The appliqués stick on, so the kids were able to “design” their shirts on their own. Then while they played we ironed them on to complete the shirt for the children. Our readers get free shipping from Once Upon A Design with code CHIRPINGFREESHIPPING. I highly recommend them!

Alex used a bowtie appliqué to make a festive onesie for her baby brother!

For our hot chocolate, I made these super simple cups ahead of time. They are just styrofoam cups with a snowman face drawn on with sharpie. Then the kids were able to use the cups to mix their own hot chocolate and add marshmallows, candy canes, etc.

They all sung Christmas carols while they made their hot cocoa and it was tons of fun. Then each child got to take home their handmade holiday shirt. This was the easiest, most fun kids Christmas get together we’ve had: smiles, songs and Christmas shirts & cocoa!
