The Chirping Moms

Make Your Own Valentine’s Day Outfit & A Chance to Win One!

January 15, 2013

When we started to plan our Valentine’s week on the blog, I decided i’d work on making some red & pink outfits for the girls. You’ll find instructions on how to make a hair clip, shirt & skirt. If you’re not up for crafting, enter the giveaway at the end. I’ll send all 3 items to one lucky winner!

Hair Clip:

I enjoy making hair clips for the girls. I don’t have much time to do it, so I typically buy them. Around the holidays, I like to try & make them a few. This year I decided to make a bunch & give them to the girls in Maggie’s preschool class as a Valentine (there are only 3 girls besides her, so it’s not too tough!).

I order my alligator clips from Etsy. I usually browse the “supplies” category of Etsy for a good deal. Then I cover them using ribbon & a hot glue gun.

For the felt pieces, I browse Etsy too. My last 2 orders were from this Etsy shop: Asec Inc.

Once the alligator clip is covered in ribbon, just glue the felt piece on!

*Winner can choose either clip pictured.

Skirt:

This is the same skirt pattern I always blog about! You can find the full tutorial here:

How to Make A Skirt

Many fabric stores have adorable Valentine’s fabric out right now, or choose any red or pink fabric & add the opposite color ric rac or ribbon!

*Winner will get a skirt that fits approx. 8months – 3t & can choose either patten shown!

Shirt:

I revisited my favorite Etsy shop for iron ons: Once Upon A Design. Like I mentioned while making the girls Christmas shirts, these are easy, inexpensive & you feel like you “made a shirt” yourself.

1. Order the applique of your choice

2. Pre-wash whatever onesie or shirt you’ll be adding the applique to

3. Place the applique on the shirt & iron (more detailed instructions come with the applique).

If you order an applique from Once Upon A Design & mention The Chirping Moms, you can choose a free 1.25″ red heart applique or a black felt 3.5″ mustache applique!

* The giveaway winner will receive a heart applique to iron on their own shirt

Be sure to stop in a lot this week. We have lots of Valentine’s fun to share! You can keep up to date on all current giveaways by clicking on our giveaway tab at the top of the page. Also, be sure to enter to win a pair of children’s Kickers shoes! Winner can pick any pair they like.

Super cute! Did you know your captcha is on? A better way to cut down on spam is to only allow registered users as most spam is from anonymous users. I did a recent post about captcha and I got an overwhelming response about how people hate it and won't leave comments. FYI!
Thanks for linking up at my Pin Me Linky Party.
