The Chirping Moms

Printable Book Plate for Baby’s First Library (& the Release of Good Day, Good Night)

October 27, 2017

Disclosure: We are celebrating a new book release from the creator of Goodnight Moon, thanks to our sponsor HarperCollins.  As always, all opinions are our own.

Last fall, a group of my friends got together to throw me the sweetest baby shower for Avery.  We celebrated the soon to be arrival of our fourth child with delicious food, a giant supply of diapers, & an abundance of joy. One of my favorite things that they blessed us with was a new pile of books for little Avery. These books were their own kids’ favorites, with some of their gift selection even taken off their older child’s shelf to be added to Avery’s nursery.  There were some new ones that we have never seen and some must-have classic favorites, including Goodnight Moon.

We have had our original copy of Goodnight Moon for over eight years when our first child was born. I have the read lines, “Goodnight room, Goodnight moon, Goodnight cow jumping over the moon” hundreds of time over the years to all four of our kids. It has always been a favorite in our house for bedtime with the colorful illustrations & lulling words.  This simple, but beautiful book is a must-have for every child’s nursery.

Today, I am excited to share about the release of a never before published picture book from Margaret Wise Brown, the author of Goodnight Moon.  Good Day, Good Night, which came out earlier this month, follows a little bunny through the day from sunrise to sunset. He begins his day by saying good day to all the familiar things outside, including the birds in the skies & bees in their hives. He ends his day, when the sun sets, by saying good night to all things familiar including kitty, bear, and people everywhere.  The gorgeous illustrations from Loren Long (the same illustrator that did the drawings for President Barack Obama’s picture book Of Thee I Sing and Otis series) are the perfect pairing to this sweet story for young children.

In addition, HarperCollins has also come out with a new padded board book edition of Goodnight Moon earlier this year.  This padded board book with those classic illustrations by Clement Hurd, is perfect for the littlest of hands. These two books together would be a great gift & addition to any baby’s nursery.

Today, I have created a sweet and simple printable book plate that can be used to build a baby’s first baby library.  All you have to do is print, add a sweet note, & tape into the front cover of the book. Click here to download & print our printable book plate. You can save it or print from there.  Make sure to scale it to the size you prefer when printing!

Good Day, Good Night & Goodnight Moon are wonderful additions to every child’s library.  For a closer look into this new book, make sure to check out the book trailer here and print the free activity booklet.  To learn more about HarperCollins Children’s Books, make sure to visit the following links:

What a sweet idea! I’m thinking I could probably scale them to print on Avery labels as well for a more permanent option. Can’t wait to try it out!

I have one young niece and a couple friends currently pregnant, so I know they’d love either of these. Thanks for the cute printable too!

What a sweet idea. We got Good night Moon from one of my students at one of my baby showers and it was a favourite.
