The Chirping Moms

the tweeting moms, coming to you blog style

May 7, 2012

So here we are, two ordinary moms, coming together to create a blog to share our “mama” moments!
So first let me share our back story.  I, Julie, am a mother of two adorable boys, Aiden (3) and Andrew (1).  I grew up in the Midwest, but have lived several different places before settling into a place I thought I would never live, a suburb outside NYC.  Courtney is a mother of two precious little girls, Maggie (2) and Alexandra (8 months).  She grew up in New Jersey, moved away for several years, before moving closer to her family back in New Jersey.  Both of our husbands commute into the city for their LONG work days, leaving us behind to take care of our wild  and crazy children!
We met at the neighborhood park-I was watching my older son, Aiden (2 1/2 at the time), while juggling my other boy, Andrew (10 months), in my arms.  I was trying to keep up with my older one who was running all around the park.  Courtney was pushing her daughter, Maggie (1 1/2 at the time), in the swing while her newborn Alexandra, was sleeping in the stroller.  We had the usual park conversation (What’s your name?  What’s your cute kid’s name?  Where do you live? Etc.) and I quickly realized that they were new in the area!  Since I had moved here just about a year earlier, I was giving the new mom’s guide to town (where to meet other moms, things to do with kids, etc.)  Of course, our conversation didn’t last long with our little kiddos quickly approaching meltdown mode, but I had a feeling that we would be good friends!
We quickly realized that we both share a passion for not just our families, but also crafting, exercise, cooking, and much more.  Since we live down the street and our kids are so close in age, we spend many hours together in swim lessons, library story times, playgroups, and everything else under the sun!  We decided to come together to create a blog that will document our adventures into the not-so-mundane life of motherhood.

What a great story – I still haven't met any moms in my area! I have such a hard time being able to do that because I work full time and then we usually have about 5 million things to catch up on on weeekends. I find it super hard!
