“Surfing” the Streets on our Mini Kick Scooter!

August 1, 2013

Before we moved out of the NYC area, our house was located really close to our suburban downtown.  We spent many days walking to town to head to preschool, coffee shop, train station, or just to pick up some more bread.  I was trying to debate what to get Aiden for his third birthday when I ran across the Mini Kick scooter from Kickboard USA online.  It had amazing reviews and I thought this would be a great present for a child who no longer wants to ride in the stroller, but has to keep up with his mom!
And boy, this really was the perfect present ever!  Aiden LOVES his Mini Kick scooter and it has been used daily since the moment he has received it!  And not only is it perfect for city life, but now that we have moved to the suburbs of DC, we have continued to use this daily and little sidekick brother, Andrew, has joined the fun of scooting with his own Mini Kick scooter.  We love taking our scooters out for our nightly routine of walking on the sidewalks and trails or heading to the playground.  We also take our scooter on our vacations to the beach and Grandma’s house.  Since it is so small, it fits easily in our car and is the perfect item to help get the energy out when we visiting family and friends.

The Mini Micro scooter is designed for children ages 3-5.  Andrew, though at 2, has picked it up and this is his favorite mode of transportation around the neighborhood.  (And he is a little peanut, not even on the height and weight charts, and still can ride it!)  The Mini Kick scooter is super easy to handle with a lean and steer handle bar.  If you lean your body to the left or right, the scooter will move with you, helping a child learn balance and coordination.  It’s almost like a little surfboard for the streets!  The scooter is only three pounds, so it is super light to carry.  Kids can carry across the street, up or down hills, and I also had no problem placing it on top of our stroller if one of ours is ready to ride instead of scoot!  There is a foot brake on the back that my four year old loves to use, showing off his fast speed and quick braking.  Courtney’s girls just received their first Mini Kick scooter and are having a blast “surfing” around their neighborhood streets!  Even little Alex is learning how to ride at an early age, thanks to big sister Maggie.

Kickboard USA makes scooters for toddlers, preschoolers, elementary kids, and even adults. I’m already eyeing the Mini Micro 3 in 1 for Abby.  This scooter is designed to grow the child.  It has 3 different age-appropriate styles of ride, starting with a ride-on seat at age 1, a Mini scooter with short O-bar steering at age 2, and the Mini Micro 3-wheel kickboard scooter with T-bar at ages 3-5.  If you already have a Mini Kick scooter for an older child, you can also just buy the Seat & O-Bar accessory.  (Can you tell I have already researched Abby’s Christmas gift?)  And for elementary kids, there is the maxi micro scooter, coming in fun metallic  or bright colors!

You can purchase kick scooters directly from the Kickboard USA website. There is a limited quantity of some smart looking special USA Maxis (perfect for children ages 5-11) on sale right now that were gently used in a parade (discount is for the USA edition only).  They are selling for $89.99, a discount of forty dollars!  Kickboard USA offers shipping through UPS for just $5 per scooter!  Make sure to connect with Kickboard USA on Facebook and Twitter for updates and product information.  Occasionally, there are some fun giveaways for some lucky followers to win.
So if you are looking for a fun outdoor toy (and we even use it indoors in our playroom on rainy days!), I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend the Mini Kick scooter!  This is the perfect addition to any outdoor toy collection.  This is both perfect for city life and suburban life.  The Mini Kick scooter is one of our top 10 toys used in our house, lasts for several years and can be passed on to siblings, and is just a truly amazing toy!

We were not compensated for this post. We did receive scooters from Kickboard USA. As always, all opinions are my own.

My older kids have always loved riding their scooters. I'm now looking for one for my littlest. She's pretty tiny and many of the scooters I have found in the stores are just too big for her. I'll have to check these out!
