Thanksgiving Handprint Craft : The Chirping Moms

Looking for some great Thanksgiving decor? These two projects were easy, fun for the kids & are now my favorite Thanksgiving decorations.

For this project, I painted an 8 X 10 canvas yellow before starting. I like making the handprints on canvas because they hold up well. You could do this on a piece of construction paper too.

I painted their palms & thumb brown & then each finger a different color. For Alex, I had to do it in 2 steps: first the palm & thumb & then the fingers because she clenches her fists as soon as they have paint on them!

I used a toothpick to paint the legs & glued on some eyes.

This turkey is made up of our family’s handprints. Maggie had so much fun with this one, especially since we had to trace Daddy’s hand too! We traced all of our hands on construction paper, cut them out & glued them together. Then we added the turkey’s body & face.

There is so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. I am especially thankful for the little hands that made these prints.

I love the idea of doing the handprints on canvas! And painting it yellow beforehand was such a great touch. And the fist clenching made me giggle. It's hard not to clench your fist when you have such glorious fun all over your hand! Lol. And the family handprint turkey is so sweet. Great post!
