DIY Lion Guard Footprint Craft for Kids

If there’s one kids’ show that all my kids can agree on, it’s The Lion Guard.  The Lion Guard series, featured on Disney Junior, is based off of one of our family’s favorite movies:  The Lion King.  The kids have watched this movie over and over through the years.  It is one of those go-to movies for family movie night and in the car while we are traveling.  All of the kids love the storyline, the adorable safari animals, & the music soundtrack.  So it’s a natural choice for all the kids to choose The Lion Guard as one of their favorite TV shows.  They love watching Kion, the son of Simba and Nala, lead the Lion Guard on adventures through the safari to protect the Pride Lands.

We have watched a lot of our favorite episodes over and over on Disney Junior, but the kids were excited to find out that you can now watch premiere episodes of The Lion Guard on the Disney Channel Friday mornings throughout the summer.  Nothing says “Happy FRiYAY” in the summer better than snuggling on the couch for a morning of cartoons, with nowhere to be and nothing to do all day. There are new episodes of all of our favorite Disney Junior shows including Sofia the First, Elena of Avalor, Puppy Dog Pals, The Lion Guard and Mickey & The Roadster Racers.   Watching Disney Channel’s FRiYAY line-up is a great way to wrap up our busy summer weeks by relaxing with some cartoons and playtime on Friday mornings, catching new episodes of our favorite shows.  Today, I am going to share a fun craft for kids that is inspired by the show, The Lion Guard.

The Lion Guard Footprint Craft

Supplies Needed:

  • White Canvas or White Cardstock Paper
  • Yellow & Brown Washable Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Craft Glue
  • Scissors
  • Yellow and Orange Paper
  • Black Marker

Directions:

  1. This is my kids’ favorite part of the craft! Mix brown and yellow paint together to make a golden brown. Then, paint the bottom of their foot.

2.  Stamp their foot onto the canvas or white paper.  Let dry.

3.  This is a good craft to practice scissors skills.  Cut small rectangles out of yellow & orange paper for the mane.  Glue at the heel of the foot to make a lion’s manene.

4.  With a black marker, add eyes, nose, and mouth.

5.  Feel free to add whiskers, tail, and more to make your own special Lion Guard!

We hope you enjoy our fun footprint lion craft for kids!  You can watch The Lion Guard throughout the week on Disney Junior.  Also, make sure to tune into the Disney Channel FRiYAY mornings throughout the summer for new episodes of The Lion Guard, as well as all your favorite Disney Junior shows.  You can also check out the Disney Junior YouTube & Facebook page, as well as the Disney Junior app for more episodes of your favorite shows!!

This is adorable! My kids love getting hand and footprints done so this would be great for them. I like the idea of practicing cutting skills – did you trace the rectangles for them ahead of time? visiting from grow your blog 😉

I didn’t with my son, age six, but I did with my four year old! I would do with younger kids just to make it easier!
