Tired Parents Date Night Needs

April 28, 2014

“This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Tony’s Pizza, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #tonyspizzeria https://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV.”

It’s funny how life changes.  Six years ago, my husband and I were living the free life.  All we had to do was take care of ourselves.  We could eat what we want.  Spend on what we want.  Shop when we want.  Sleep when we want.  I would come home from work on a Friday.  Hop on the treadmill.  Take my time getting ready for a night out with my husband.  And then we would head out on a fun Friday night date night.

Fast forward, 5 1/2 years.  Three kids later, our Friday nights have surely changed.  Little toddler is grabbing on my leg begging for any crumb that I may offer.  Middle child, three year old, is dressed as a firefighter riding his balance bike through the house putting out pretend fires.  And the oldest, five, has transformed himself into a dog and barking and running around with our two pet dogs.  It’s wild.  It’s chaotic.  We finally wrangle all three kids into their beds and it’s time for our traditional Friday “date” night.

Now, how does two exhausted parents celebrate date night?

That’s right.  Keep it simple.  This is all you need:

  • Frozen Pizza
  • Paper Plates.  Please no dishes here.
  • Sweatpants.  Got to keep it stylish, right? (And I may just fall asleep on the couch so I better be dressed to make it through the night)
  • Drink of Choice.
  • Dessert.  Preferably with lots of chocolate.
  • And some good ole DVR television.

This past Friday, we had our “date night”.  It was much-needed after the crazy week that we had.  We kicked off our dinner with pizza and drinks.  Tony’s Pizza.  Yes, I do love pizza from the local joint in town but once my husband arrives home on Friday, neither of us have enough energy to even head back out to pick up dinner.  So while I was out running errands with the kids earlier in the day, I grabbed a Tony’s Pizza.  It’s one of my favorite frozen pizzas because of the crunchy crust, real tomato sauce and cheese, and super easy preparation.

And what did I tell you was another key to date night.  Paper plates.  Yep, no dishes.

And last, we ended it with a super easy Reese’s Pieces Peanut Butter Pie.  Like so easy, you can give this recipe to your husband and he can whip it up.  But before I give you the recipe, do you want to know about the rest of date night…

We sat on the couch.  And caught up on our never-ending list of DVR shows.  Anyone else have a DVR list that is way past overdue.  We just watched the How I Met Your Mother from Halloween.  Tis the life of a busy parent…

Make sure to kick off your next date night with my super simple idea.  And save a little money by using this coupon (while supplies last) at your local Walmart that will allow you to save 75 cents on any TWO (2) Tony’s multi-serve pizzas.  And if you are stuck having a solo night in, I just discovered mini-serve pizzas from Tony’s Pizza.  Already sitting in my freezer waiting for my husband’s next late night at work.  Probably Monday…

Make sure to follow Tony’s Pizza on Twitter and Facebook to see their latest updates!

And now are you ready for the recipe. Peanut butter. Chocolate. How could you not?

Pin this and save for later. Trust me, you will be happy.

I'm with you. I get so tired some nights I wish I could throw poptarts at the kids and consider myself done. Easy is the number one search word in my recipe list and the crockpot is my go to cooking tool. I was looking for something exactly like this for thanksgiving. I have pinned and saved. TY!! =D
