The Chirping Moms

To Maggie On Your 3rd Birthday

March 5, 2013

Dear Maggie,

Today you are 3 years old! President’s Weekend 2010 I was past my due date & getting SO anxious to meet you. I walked miles & miles that weekend hoping i’d go into labor. I even drank castor oil, I just didn’t want to wait any longer! I waited another whole week. I still look back & think it was the longest week ever.

Then I blinked. It was President’s Weekend again & we were headed into the city for our first “girls day” in NYC. You talked non stop on the train, about all the things we were to see & do. I watched you thinking: “time really does fly by”.

This is the first birthday that I cried thinking about you turning a year older. You are really starting to look older & “no more diapers” a few weeks ago, really made you seem a lot older .  Sometimes  I wish you were still a tiny baby swaddled in bed next to me. But most of the time I think this is the very best age you’ve been. I hope this year goes a whole lot slower than the last few!

You are an amazing 3 year old. Your laugh is infectious. Every time you laugh, Alex & I start immediately laughing too. You have a better memory than anyone I have met. You remember every detail of everything we do, and still remember the details months later. You love using big words. Last week I came downstairs & you said I looked “absolutely gorgeous”.

You are beautiful. You rarely like to be called Maggie. You are either Simba, baby gorilla, Sofia or Angelina depending on what you are playing.

You love your family. Not just me, Dad & Alex, but your whole family near & far. You like to list them all & talk about them all the time.

My favorite thing it saying prayers with you at night. We often have very busy days & I look forward to our quiet time right before bed. I am amazed & proud that you have learned so many prayers just by listening to me & can recite them on your own now.

You are an amazing big sister. Alex looks up to you & you do a great job of looking out for her. The best part of every day is watching you & Alex play. Your imagination is the most wonderful thing in the world.

Sometimes you are funny & sometimes you are very serious. You love princesses, but you also love spiders & worms.

Your favorite things:

Animals: You play with & talk about them all day long. We set up jungles with toy animals, you draw them & love going to the farm to feed them.

Food: yogurt, pancakes & bacon

TV Show: Sofia the First. You have a light-up Cinderella dress & you like to wear it while watching.

Book: Froggy Gets Dressed & Curious George

Movie: Lion King

Song: “Lots & Lots of Animals” I made this one up for you

Place: Grammy’s House, our local diner & NYC

To Play: “chase”. I have to chase you around the house or you chase Alex. You also love making Daddy be “Daddy Gorilla” and run around the house with you on his back.

Thing you ask me the most: “Tell me a story about….”

Happy 3rd birthday to the sweet girl that makes every day bright.

How absolutely adorable! Happy Birthday to your Maggie! They grow so quickly. My little girl won't let me hold her longer than a few seconds. Oh how I wish I could have at least a minute. Love the blog.

So sweet Courtney! You are such a wonderful Mother and it's reflective in the way we are watching your babies grow up. They are polite, confident, sweet, smart, funny and so many other wonderful adjectives that are the same qualities that draw your friends and family to you. Thank you for letting me be a part of your girls lives. xoxo
