Two Fun Unicorn Crafts for Kids

April 9, 2021

Happy National Unicorn Day! What a way to start the weekend…. a Friday all about unicorns. We love unicorns in my house. If you’re looking for some fun crafts and activities to do today below are 2 fun unicorn crafts for kids.

Each year I think Alex might get too old for her love of unicorns but it hasn’t happened yet and that makes me very happy. My boys are not nearly as interested in unicorn crafts but Miles is studying the letter U this week so a unicorn craft was a perfect fit for us to work on!

Handprint crafts are always my favorite. Their little hands grow so fast and it’s a fun way to capture their age in a craft. Plus my kids get a kick out of anything messy, like paint all over their hands.

The other craft, the unicorn paper plate, has been a really popular craft on the blog for a few years now. it’s easy, fun and can be made into a unicorn mask too.

Have fun crafting all things unicorns today!

Unicorn Crafts for Kids

Unicorn Handprint Activity

Supplies: paper, paint, black marker, gold paper (or gold marker or glitter), yarn, gue

Directions: Paint the child’s hand to make a handprint on the paper. Let the handprint dry. Use the back marker to draw eye, mouth, hooves. Make the unicorn a horn with gold paper, a gold marker or cut it out of white paper and add some glitter. Last glue on yarn for the unicorn’s tail and mane.

Paper Plate Unicorns

Supplies:

  • paper Plate
  • rainbow colored yarn (I just picked whatever was cheapest at Micheal’s Crafts)
  • large google eyes (or let them draw on the eyes to save $)
  • glitter paper (I found in the scrap book paper aisle of Micheal’s)
  • markers
  • glue
  • hole puncher
  • scissors

Directions: Punch holes on the top half of the paper plate. Cut yarn into about 1ft long pieces. Our yarn was pretty thin, so we did 3 strings per hole. Thread them through and knot. Then, use scissors to give the unicorn some bangs. This was actually my kids favorite part ha! Next, glue on the eyes (or draw eyes) and draw the nose. Last, cut a unicorn horn out of the glitter paper and glue it to the back. Now your unicorn is ready for adventure or to enjoy the unicorn birthday party if it’s a party craft!
