Where to Wednesday: Four Seasons Baltimore with Kids

September 8, 2016

We visited Baltimore a couple of years ago and had a blast. For months, the girls have been asking when we could go back!  They love dolphins and remembered that the National Aquarium has beautiful dolphins.

Four Seasons Baltimore

We decided we would plan a trip this summer as a fun weekend getaway. Baltimore is about 2.5 hours from our house, so it’s a perfect distance for a quick vacation. It’s only been 2 years since we were last in Baltimore, but in that short time, we’ve doubled the number of children we have! So I wanted to make sure we stayed somewhere that had enough room for our family and activities we would all enjoy. As far as sightseeing, our only plan was the aquarium. We wanted the rest of the weekend to be relaxing with time for swimming. We also wanted food options on site so we didn’t have to leave the hotel for every meal.

We found all of that and more at Four Seasons Baltimore. From the minute we checked in, we felt very welcome with our active crew of kids. For the little ones that needed a nap, the staff made sure we were checked in early and quickly. For the girls that were jumping for joy (literally) to be in a hotel, the staff gave them special bracelets and pulled over a stool so they could climb up and reach the desk to check in on their own.

They thought it was so cool to check into a hotel all by themselves! Next all of the kids received a little red passport. They were told there were spots to stop at around the hotel to get their passports stamped. If they got all their “stamps” during the trip, they would get a special prize. They couldn’t wait to get started.

The room was perfect for a large family. We had plenty of space to spread out and have the babies nap. The room was all set up for a family: a stool in the bathroom so the girls could reach the sink, items in the bath to make it safe for little ones, a special diaper pail, kids shampoo, baby shampoo, diapers and more. We felt right at home, right away.

While the boys settled in for a nap (dad included) the girls and I went right to the pool. The pool at Four Seasons Baltimore is like no other city pool I’ve seen before. It’s right on the Inner Harbor and the glass walls and infinity pool make you feel like you’re swimming right along side the beautiful boats. There were fun floaties for the girls to enjoy and an afternoon poolside with my “big” kids was really relaxing for me. We enjoyed a “girls afternoon” complete with delicious milkshakes from the pool bar.

Back to the passports. This was really a cool way to get the kids more excited about being on a family vacation and about seeing the entire Four Seasons property during the trip. They were so eager to “see it all” and get their stamps. They were most excited that they had to enter the spa for a stamp. I had previously told them only grown ups were aloud in the spa so it stayed quiet and relaxing!

For dinner, we enjoyed a meal outside at Wit & Wisdom, one of the restaurants at Four Seasons Baltimore. It was delicious and comes with a beautiful view of the harbor. The kids meals were a huge hit with our crew. After dinner, we took a walk around the Inner Harbor and grabbed some ice cream.

The next morning we took advantage of how early the pool opened. We chose a spot poolside for the day, set up our stuff and ate breakfast right at the Splash Pool Bar & Grill. Afterwards it was time for sunscreen and a day of swimming! We started out on the splash pad on the upper pool deck. It was nothing but giggles and splashing from all four kids. Even Miles was in on the action.

After some more swimming on the main deck, it was time for the kids to take a little rest and for mom to visit the spa. The past 7 months since Miles was born has been a wild and crazy whirlwind. I couldn’t remember the last time I had 5 minutes to myself, so I was really looking forward to the spa. I enjoyed the Himalayan Salt Stone massage. In addition to being a great massage, I added on an oil treatment for my hair. I’ve had some major postpartum hair issues this time around the oil treatment left my hair looking so much better. After the treatment, I was in no rush to leave the spa. I enjoyed time out on the deck, a rest in the relaxation room, the whirlpools and even a shower (which I never get uninterrupted). It was just enough time to completely unwind and return to my crew refreshed and ready for more vacation fun.

Four Seasons Baltimore

We spent the afternoon back at the pool. We started out with an amazing lunch at the Splash Pool Bar & Grill. It was convenient to be right by the pool and the food was outstanding. Again, a great kids menu makes for a much easier meal for a family of six.

We all swam after lunch right up until we saw a line forming over by the bar. The girls recognized that there were “chefs outside” so we dried off to go check it out. The Four Season’s pastry chef had set up a really neat ice cream station. She was creating using an ice cream base, dry ice and tons of toppings. It was so cool to watch and cool to eat too!

After this jam packed pool day, the kids were all exhausted. We enjoyed a movie in the room while all four kids slept soundly. We couldn’t ask for a more relaxing night on a family vacation.

Four Seasons Baltimore

We all had such a wonderful time in Baltimore thanks to Four Seasons Baltimore. The hotel and all of the activities were exactly what we were looking for on our weekend getaway. We hope to return again sometime soon and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great family stay in Baltimore.

We were not compensated for this post. We did receive accommodations at the property for the purpose of review. As always, all opinions are my own.
