Where to Wednesday: Dutch Wonderland

April 14, 2016

If you’re looking to plan some fun adventures for your kids this summer, one place to definitely check out is Dutch Wonderland. I had always heard great things about Dutch Wonderland and last summer we got to check it out. I was so impressed and so were the kids. It’s the perfect place for a family with little ones. It’s been months (almost a year!) and my girls still talk about it all the time.

If you’re new here and you’re wondering how old the kids were when we visited: 5, 3 (almost 4) and 9 months.

One thing I really liked about Dutch Wonderland was that the kids could go on most of the rides themselves. I was pregnant and get very motion sick, so not riding the rides was a plus for me. The girls had a blast getting to go on rides themselves and thought it was “so cool”! You can get up close and easily watch them. We didn’t wait on any lines, except the log flume, which is well worth the wait!

There were tons of bathrooms and they were very clean for summer time at an amusement park.

Dutch Wonderland is very stroller friendly and Tommy fell asleep in the stroller and slept almost the whole time we were there.

In addition to all of the rides, my girls loved the games and the pony rides! There’s also a fun silo slide near the horses that they played on for a while.

I felt like Dutch Wonderland was such a happy, fun and welcoming place. Little kids can get very overwhelmed at places like amusement parks and I felt like Dutch Wonderland was not overwhelming to them at all. They had such a wonderful day and so did I!

We stayed across the street at a Country Inn & Suites. I’d highly recommend it. The rooms are perfect for families: a bedroom and then a separate room with a pull out couch. The breakfast is free and kid friendly and the indoor pool was fun (very basic) and clean. Plus you can walk to Dutch Wonderland and not re-park. It’s also close to a lot of other fun Lancaster attractions.

If you’re looking for a fun getaway this summer or if you’ll be vacationing in the Lancaster area, I highly recommend taking the kids for a day of family fun at Dutch Wonderland.

[…] Of course a favorite for all 4 kids was getting to “milk a cow” (it’s a fake cow and water comes out)! We had the best day at Dutch Wonderland. My parents came along with us and agreed it’s such a wonderful amusement park for families. For more info on Dutch Wonderland, check out this post from our first visit.  […]
