Where to Wednesday: Fancy Nancy The Musical

February 20, 2013

We took Maggie to see her first musical a few months ago. Ever since, she is constantly asking to see another. She loves music & dancing. We put on show in our living room almost every day. So for her birthday, I took her back into the city to see Fancy Nancy the Musical.

I couldn’t have picked a better show for Maggie! Fancy Nancy the Musical was full of lively songs, lots of dancing & bright costumes. Maggie picked out her favorite “fancy dress” to wear to the show. To her surprise, as Fancy Nancy exited the theater, she told Maggie it was a beautiful dress! Maggie couldn’t believe it. Almost the whole audience was other little girls in their fancy dresses, tutus & crowns. It was such a fun spirited show, cast & audience too!

The music was great & Maggie danced along with her arms the whole show (since I said she had to remain in her seat!). There was a song that got the audience involved & we haven’t stopped singing it/ doing the hand motions since Saturday. As a mom, I liked the story line & the message behind the show. It was endearing & easily understood: even Maggie got the idea, at 3.

After the show, all of the children had a chance to meet the cast & get autographs. Maggie loved interacting with the cast & keeps reminding me she “gave a shark a high 5”!
The show is presented by the Vital Theater Company (2162 Broadway). Fancy Nancy plays every Saturday & Sunday at 3:30pm.  I highly recommend this show. It was entertaining & a special afternoon for me & Maggie.

After the show, Maggie told me her favorite part of the musical was when “the mommy made Nancy feel better with her special song” (oh my heart!).

I was not compensated for this post. I did receive tickets to the show. As always, all opinions are my own.
