Where to Wednesday: NYC Weekend With Kids

March 6, 2013

We head into the New York City a lot, but for the first time, we went on a “weekend getaway” as a family to the city. It was very different then just spending a few hours & hoping on a train back home: in & out of cabs with strollers, heading from one side of the city to another, etc. I give moms in the city a whole lot of credit! We had a wonderful weekend & although we were less than 20 miles from home, it was so nice to “get away”. Here are a few of our favorite parts of the weekend:

 Alice’s Tea Cup

Absolutely adorable & magical for little girls. From the fairy dust upon arrival to the beautiful wings lent to wear during brunch, Maggie was in awe. The tea list is wonderful & so is the food.

We actually visited one location the weekend before for Maggie’s birthday & stopped in another location  this time. We didn’t sit down for a meal the 2nd time, but picked a treat from the front to take with us.

Museum of Natural History

The Museum of Natural History was always my favorite as a kid. Maggie loves dinosaurs & animals.  So, I was really looking forward to take her to the museum. We had a busy morning before we got to the museum, so Alex fell asleep while we were in line for tickets & didn’t wake up until we left. It actually worked out well, because she got rest & Maggie got some extra attention from Mom & Dad. I loved watching her face when she saw each of the exhibits!

Magnolia Bakery

Maggie loves the color purple & cupcakes. A place that had delicious cupcakes with a purple frosting option: a dream come true. Both Maggie & Alex devoured cupcakes while I had a chance to catch up with some girlfriends.

Ancient Playground

We love finding parks & playgrounds to enjoy in the city. That’s one of my favorite parts about being in the city with the kids. We had a pretty nice day for February & took a walk to Central Park. We discovered the Ancient Playground & had a blast. The girls ran around & climbed all afternoon. Then they enjoyed some time on the swings before we left. This playground is right next to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The Mansion Restaurant

86th & York Ave

My favorite spot in the city for matzoh ball soup! It was near where we were staying & we stopped in for lunch after a lot of playing at the park. They were very kid friendly, helpful & fast. My girls were tired & cranky when we got there & after some milk & pancakes, they were in good spirits again. They enjoyed watching the cabs go by out the window.

We had a great weekend & can’t wait to start planning some springtime fun in NYC!

Really its a magical trip for kids, great fun and after seeing the name of Museum of Natural History. I have visited this historical place just before my niagara falls bus trips . The whole article shows that it is a fun for all family especially for kids find here many entertaining activities. Next if I get any chance to go there then I must avail it by visiting the above places.
