Where to Wednesday: A Peek Inside Our Suitcase

November 14, 2013

We are back from London! It was a wonderful trip & I’ll have plenty to share in weeks to come. First up is a peek inside our suitcase. A lot of people have asked what the weather was like, how we knew what to bring, etc. With Maggie looking forward to visiting palaces & royalty, I knew there was no way she was going to wear pants & a sweater. As I imagined, from the minute we stepped off the plane, she wanted her “princess dress” on, just in case she saw the Queen.

Here are a few of our favorite items we brought on the trip:

Tutu du Monde Dress// Stella McCartney Kids Hat // Sofia the First  Dress // Mini Boden Tights // Little Blue Olive Crown // Hemmed In Skirt

We brought one Disney Princess dress that Maggie wore over her clothes while walking around during the day. She agreed to “layering” as long as the dress was on top. When we went out to meals & tea, she loved picking out dresses to wear, with her Tutu du Monde dress being her favorite. If you have a little girl that doesn’t like pants, the cable knit tights from Mini Boden are awesome. They look like tights, but are super thick & warm. Accessories were key: crowns most of the time & hats when it got extra chilly. Maggie loved her “twirling skirt” from Hemmed In. It’s also thick & warm for a skirt, but twirls enough to get the “princess approval”.

I have a lot of travel favorites that I always pack, but these are 4 things I discovered shortly before leaving for London.

Gap Sweater // Hemmed In Camera Strap // New Balance Well2Go // Boden Leggings

Gap has awesome sweaters this winter. I don’t like layering with really heavy sweaters when traveling because a lot of places are super warm. They have a lot of fun patterned sweaters right now. I bought the one pictured & a fun leopard print sweater too. I wore boots when it was cold & rainy, but most of the time walked around in my New balance Well2Go flats. They matched everything & when my feet got tired mid day, I switched over to the “massage side” (check out this post for more on the shoes). I recently discovered the leggings from Boden & love them. I got them in black earlier this fall & ended up ordering them in blue & a 2nd black pair for the trip. They are really soft & still look nice after a day of touring around the city. Last, I finally got a camera strap cover! It’s an accessory I have been eyeing for a while.  I was thrilled when my strap arrived from Hemmed In. They have a great assortment & would make fun holiday gifts. It’s the same company that makes the child’s skirt shown above. Everything is hand made & very well made. I wore a solid black coat the whole trip & enjoyed the pop of color from my camera strap.

The other very important item both Maggie & I packed for the trip: umbrellas. We needed them a lot, but besides for a few rainy days, it was warmer in London then I expected. We had long days of sight seeing, so I am glad I packed some comfortable shoes & clothes, so I could chase after Maggie in her princess dress & crown!

I was not compensated for this post. In a few cases, items were sent for the purpose of review. As always, all opinions are my own.

Oh those pictures are sooo cute! I love that she brought princess dresses in case she met the Queen! I wonder if the Queen even knows Sophia? Looks like a great trip. Looking forward to hearing all about it.
