Where To Wednesday: Rainy Day Outing

June 6, 2012

We have had a whole lot of rain the past few weeks. I made the mistake of telling Maggie we were heading to the zoo before checking the forecast. She woke up Monday morning very excited for a trip to see the animals and it was pouring outside. Due to the weather, we have been stuck inside quite a bit lately, so we were running out of things to do. We decided to brave the storm….
Maggie would not stop talking about animals & wanting the zoo so we went to the next best place (or the next best place in the rain) Petco! She was so excited. If your kids like animals & you need to burn an hour take them over to a pet store. We saw birds, guinea pigs, snakes, ferrets, lizards, mice & a ton of fish. The employees are really good with kids & taught Maggie some great stuff about the animals. She didn’t want to leave. Alex was in the Bjorn & also enjoyed it – especially the fish! Then we walked over to the dog aisle & I let Maggie pick out a treat for our dog. It was a great rainy day activity!

After that we stopped at BJs Wholesale Club. I have never been a member there, but Julie & I went last week & signed up for a free 2 month trial. After my trip there with the kids, I might be joining for the year – they have TWO SPOTS in the front of their shopping carts. That’s right, you don’t have to push one of those massive race car or space ships carts just to have two seats. You can push a normal cart around with your who little kiddies side by side. Maybe you all have seen this before but it was a first for our crew. It made our shopping trip a lot of fun.

Yay for BJ's! It'll change your life. If you are good at planning ahead, it's cheaper to buy bread, eggs and milk there. They have a good selection of organic products too. We do most of our food shopping there now and only go to the grocery store 1-2 weeks for specific produce or other non-bulk items. BTW – in addition to sending you their own coupons all the time, you can also use manufactures coupons which makes diaper shopping cheap!!!

HAHAHA I LOVE BJ's!!! I only have one kid, so two spots is excessive at this point, but I love their pricing, and their food! There are some that even sell booze. ANd my favorite part is that you can double up on coupons- they will accept one BJ and one manufacturer coupon for one product – that can lead to a TON os savings.
