10 Easter Craft Ideas for Kids

March 23, 2017

10 Easter Crafts for Kids || The Chirping Moms. Religious Easter Crafts. Sunday School Crafts for Kids.

We love the Easter season in our house!  We have been counting down towards Easter with some fun crafts & activities for kids.  Today, we are sharing 10 Easter crafts for kids.  Some of these are directed for very young children, while others are geared for older children.  Many can be adapted for kids of all ages.  Happy Easter Crafting!

1.  Resurrection Eggs:  This is a great activity to use with younger and/or older children.  It teaches children about the resurrection of Jesus using twelve different eggs & paper symbols to teach the story.  Children can color each symbol as well as prepare the box.  The kids love not only creating the resurrection eggs, but love to hear the story over and over again.

2.  Mosaic Cross:

Supplies Needed:  Construction Paper, Craft Sticks, Easter Grass, Craft Glue, & Foil Mosaic Squares

Directions:  Glue two craft sticks together to make a cross and let dry.  Add the foil mosaic squares to decorate the cross.  Glue Easter grass & the cross on to the paper.  Let dry.

3.  Washi Tape “He Is Risen” Cross:

Supplies Needed:  Construction Paper, Washi Tape, Scissors, & Letter Stickers,

Directions:  On a piece of construction paper, place washi tape into strips.  Using a white piece of construction paper, cut out a cross.  Glue the white paper (with the cut out cross over the paper with washi tape).  See above.  Add letters to spell “He is Risen”.

3.  Beaded Cross Keychain:

Supplies Needed:  Pony Beads, Mini Glue Dots, Clear Nylon String, & Key Rings

Directions:  Before beginning, put a Glue Dot on each side of the middle bead (the red bead) & glue to two side beads (the orange and yellow bead).  This will help secure the middle bead into place.  Cut a piece of clear nylon string.  First string it into the bottom bead (the blue bead).  It will loop through here so one end is coming out each end of the bead.  Place both ends of the string now through the next bead (the pink bead).  String one end of the string into the “orange” bead & the other end of the string into the “yellow” bead.  Now, string both ends of the string back into the top bead (the green bead).  Loop back down & back up through the green bead to secure into place.  (You can also add another Glue Dot both above and below the red bead to secure it even more.  Tie a knot (or several) at the top to secure it again and then tie onto the key ring.

5.  Sand Art Cross:

This is another great activity for both younger & older children.  Create super easy & colorful sand art crosses using this fun sand art kit.

I found this adorable craft kit from Oriental Trading. The kit is easy: my kids (5 and 7) did it all on their own using the direction sheet in the package. They came out great and have a special message on them for Easter.

10. Make Your Own Stained Glass Cross

Supplies: Black construction paper, white copy paper or tracing paper, scissors, glue stick and mini tissue paper squares (found these on Oriental Trading.com).

Directions: Cut a large cross out of the black construction paper. Then cut out the inside of the cross, to make it like a black “border” for the cross. Place it on the white paper and trace the inside. Put the black cross to the side. Fill the whole cross shape on the white paper with glue and stick on the mini tissue squares. Make any pattern you like! Then glue the black cross/ the outline in place (see below). Last, cut around the cross, cutting off all of the excess white paper. Hang your cross on a window and the light will shine through!
