20 Ways To Entertain A Princess

May 23, 2014

My girls want to play princess all day: inside, outside, drawing princesses, dressing like a princess, etc. Lately, I’ve been trying to come up with some new “princess activities” to at least switch up our daily princess routine. Today I’m sharing a list of 20 of our favorite “royal” activities. So, if you’re planning a princess themed party, trying to come up with learning activities to spark your little girls interest, or you also have kids who want to play princess all day long, we’ve got you covered.

20 Ways To Entertain A Princess:

1. Practice Counting With Jewels

Give the children cups of jewels. Have them practice counting using the jewels. For Alex I did simple “1,2,3,4” & for Maggie I made it more challenging by putting numbers out of order “7,2,6,5” and then we practiced easy addition too.

2. Ribbon Wands

3. Pink & Purple Water Play

Get all those princess toys ready for a bath! Add a drop of food coloring and dish soap to a tupperware container. Add water & you’ll have pink & purple soapy bubbles.

4. Make A Crown

5. Game: Hide The Glass Slipper

Take a toy high heel or one of your own heels. Take turns hiding the “glass slipper” in the house. To add an element of fun: set a 1 min timer and say you have to find the slipper before the “clock strikes midnight”!

6. Pink Milk

Add a drop of food coloring to milk to make it milk. For an all natural method: make a strawberry syrup to add to the milk (cook strawberries, water & sugar until a syrup forms).

7. Make A Tiara From A Headband

8. Have A Royal Parade

Turn on your favorite princess music, dress up, grab your tiara, grab instruments & march around the house or yard.

9. Practice Shapes With Castle Building

Cut out squares, triangles, rectangles & hearts from contraction paper. Have the children assemble castles, using the shapes. For old children, let them cut out the shapes.

10. Flower Crowns

11. Mom’s Fancy Shoe Shop

My girls love trying on my shoes. I set up a “royal show shop” in the playroom by lining up some of my shoes. This entertained the girls for a while!

12. Paper Straw Jewelry

Cut up extra paper straws into different size “beads” to string. We strung them on ribbon to make princess necklaces and bracelets.

13. Castle Coloring Sheets

Here’s an easy one: Google “castle coloring sheet” and print what you find.

14. Pipecleaner Tiara

15. Cardboard Box Table

This was a fun one! We took an old cardboard box and turned it into a “royal table”. The girls painted the box and added glitter to the top. Then they glued sequins and jewels to the top, to make it extra sparkly.

16. Star Wands

Cut a 2 star shapes out of construction paper. Glue them together with a stick or wood dowel in the middle. Let the kids decorate their wands.

17. Have A Royal Lunch

By simply calling it a royal lunch, you’ll get a little princess excited. We had star sandwiches, pink yogurt and pink milk.

18. Scavenger Hunt

I took a tea cup party favor boxes and made them into “treasure cups” and put some candy inside. To get to the treasure, the girls had to search around the house for pink paper butterflies that I had hidden. The favor boxes came with the butterflies.

19. Dress Up Party

One of the best ways to entertain a princess is to suggest a dress up party! My girls love to put out all their dress up clothes and favorite dresses and set up a “shop” first. Then we all pick out dresses, accessories, etc and get dressed up!

20. Have A Tea Party

Last, but not least, our favorite princess activity is a tea party. This is fun for playing inside and outside. Outside, we always add water to the tea pot and practice pouring our tea.

Our new purple dress up dress (pictured on Maggie), our pink tea set & Maggie’s new princess puppy dog are from the new line Whimsy & Wonder. The line is dress up and imaginative play items sold exclusively at Target! This whimsical line is perfect for little girls with BIG imaginations! We love this new line and the prices are great. Whimsy & Wonder items make great birthday party gifts too.
