Bunny Chow: Easy Easter Recipe

March 27, 2026

Ready for the Easter Bunny to hop by your house this week? If you’re anything like me, the pressure to create something cute, festive, and actually doable (especially with kids running around) is very real. That’s why this Bunny Chow has officially become one of our favorite Easter traditions—and I have a feeling it might become one in your house too.

Every year, we put out carrots for the Easter Bunny… but let’s be honest—if I were the Easter Bunny, I’d much rather come back for something sweet, colorful, and just a little bit addictive. Enter: Bunny Chow. It’s cheerful, kid-approved, and the best part? No baking required.

And I truly mean that. I am not a baker. If a recipe has too many steps or requires precise timing, I’m out. But this one? It’s basically melt, mix, shake, and done. It’s the kind of recipe that feels almost too easy—and yet somehow turns out looking like you tried really hard.

This version is a blend of a few different “bunny chow” recipes I’ve seen floating around, simplified to make it as quick and stress-free as possible. It’s also perfect for little helpers. My kids jumped in to measure, pour, shake the bag (arguably their favorite part), and of course… taste test along the way. Actually, “taste test” might be an understatement—they absolutely devoured it.

What I love most about this recipe is how flexible it is. You can swap in different candies, adjust the colors to match your Easter décor, or even portion it into little treat bags for class parties, playdates, or Easter baskets. It’s one of those recipes that looks adorable on a platter but is just as perfect scooped into a bowl for a movie night.

If you’re hosting brunch, heading to a family gathering, or just want something festive to snack on all week long, this Bunny Chow checks every box. Sweet, crunchy, colorful, and ridiculously easy.

So if you’re looking for a last-minute Easter treat that feels special without the stress—this is it.

Bunny Chow

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 8 cups crispy rice square cereal
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup M&M’S (spring colors make it extra festive!)
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • Spring-colored sprinkles

Directions:

  1. Measure out your cereal and place it in a large mixing bowl. This is a great step for kids to help with—no precision required!
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and white chocolate chips together. Heat in short intervals (about 20–30 seconds), stirring in between until smooth.
  3. Pour the melted mixture over the cereal and gently mix until everything is evenly coated. Try not to crush the cereal as you stir.
  4. Let the mixture cool slightly (this is important so the powdered sugar doesn’t melt).
  5. Transfer the coated cereal into a large zip-top bag. Add the powdered sugar, seal the bag, and shake until every piece is fully coated. Kids LOVE this step—just be ready for a little extra enthusiasm.
  6. Pour the mixture into a serving bowl and stir in the M&M’S, mini marshmallows, and sprinkles.

And that’s it—seriously. You’re done.

This Bunny Chow is best enjoyed fresh, but it also keeps well in an airtight container for a few days (if it lasts that long in your house!). It’s the perfect mix of crunchy, sweet, and festive, with just enough nostalgia to make it feel like a holiday tradition in the making.

From one busy mom to another—this is the kind of recipe that makes you feel like you’ve got it all together… even if you absolutely don’t.

Wishing you and your family the sweetest, simplest, and most joy-filled Easter.

Hoppy Easter!
