5 Fun (and Educational) Games for Kids to Add to Kids’ Holiday Wish List!

Holiday shopping has begun and there is one thing that I definitely have on my boys’ wish lists…more board games!  We play a lot of games in this house and there is only so many times that this mom can play “Candyland” or “Chutes and Ladders”.  I am on the hunt for fun AND educational board games.  There are lots of wonderful options out there, but today I am going to share about five great educational games for children.  These games, created by Super Duper Publications, are great developing language and speech in young children.  Many of my friends worry about their child’s speech and language skills and these games would be a great way to practice and reinforce these skills at home.  Super Duper Publications products are highly recommended by educators and parents and today, we are sharing some of their picks from their “Top 10 Toys for Kids”!
One of the games that made the list is the MagneTalk Telling Time Game.  Aiden, my four year old, is all about playing “school” right now.  I thought that the MagneTalk Telling Time game will make a perfect addition to his make shift classroom in our house.  What a great way to learn how to tell time with the traditional clock face and the digital clock as well.  The clock board is magnetic and there is different magnetic pieces that allow you to easily change the times on the clocks.  I also love that it is compact and easy to store away when you aren’t using it!

The next game that we want to share with you is Turtle Talk.  This is a great game to help kids who are working on developing their speech fluency and language.  Players pick a card, roll the dice, and skate around the board collecting “Turtle Tokens” while answering questions.   What a fun way to practice those language skills!

One of my boys’ favorite things to eat is…pizza!  So when I saw the game, Go For the Dough, I thought they would love that the whole game is based on their favorite food.  In Go for the Dough, kids deliver pizzas and earn money all while working on developing their vocabulary.

Courtney’s girls are all about setting the table at mealtime.  In MagneTalk Mealtime Game, kids get to set their own magnetic dinner plate with fun foods.  The kids have endless options to set their “table” with healthy foods from the five basic food groups including meats, vegetables, fruits, dairy, and grains.

Hopping Frogs is a great game for pre-readers. The kids help frogs “jump” from the “frog pond” (the board) to their “lily pads” while practicing letter sounds.  It can be easily modified for children at different ability levels and ages.  What a great game that will grow with your child throughout the years!
