A Bright New Room With Disney Paints

April 4, 2013

When we moved into our house, I was 9 months pregnant with Alex. Setting up the rooms in our house was more about “how much can we unpack before the baby arrives” & less about decorating. Then, when she arrived, what was supposed to be the nursery, was being used as my husband’s home office. Alex slept in our room for the first few months. I kept all of her clothes in Maggie’s room. Then, when she was ready to move into a crib, the office became the nursery, but in haste, with little decor.
We never painted it & the room happened to be a very drab & dreary shade of beige. Our old dinning room rug needed a new home & made it’s way to the nursery. We’ve slowly added things to try & make the space look nice for a little girl, but much work was still needed.
I was thrilled when Momtrends contacted me & asked if i’d like to try out Glidden’s new line of Disney Paints from Walmart. This was just the little “push” we needed to brighten up Alex’s room.
The thing we have to keep in mind in our room redecorating, is that eventually Alex will move into Maggie’s room (she actually has a bed in there for when she is ready to move out of the crib) & this room will remain a nursery if/when a #3 comes along. Therefore, we have to stay gender neutral.
We decided to head to Walmart as a family, to pick out some colors for the new room. The paint center was easy to find & the kids spotted the Disney Paints before we did. Alex was running towards the paint samples yelling “Mickey, Minnie”!
The selection of paint colors was vibrant & fun. Glidden’s Disney Paint line is a new line & available only at Walmart . There are 112 exclusive colors. We let the girls climb up & pick some colors. I had originally thought we would go with a shade of yellow to keep it neutral, but all of us agreed the LOL Green was the best choice. Alex is a wild child & full of energy & cheer. I want a room that’s as bright & happy as she is.
I love having things in the kids’ rooms that make the room personal. I like them to know it’s “their space”. Even in a shared space, it’s nice to have little areas (like their bed) that have an initial on the pillow, their name above the bed, etc. This is where the Great Slate paint comes into play.
The new Disney Paint line includes five innovative specialty finishes that are easy to use and apply. The Great Slate finish is a tintable chalkboard paint. I love chalkboard paint & think it’s awesome that you can now get it in any of the Disney Paint colors. We decided to add a chalkboard space above Alex’s crib where we can personalize the space with her name, birthday etc. We have a few other ideas for our Great Slate paint, but you’ll have to wait for the room reveal to see!
The girls loved seeing all the colors & watching the Walmart employees mix the paint.
As a mom, I love that the paints are low odor & have no VOCS. Also, Disney Paint is a premium-quality & ultra-durable. It was formulated with kids in mind & made to withstand wear and tear, as well as repeated scrubs and washes.
Like many children, my girls already love everything Disney. The Disney Paint line helps bring some of beloved Disney magic into kids rooms. The colors in this new line complement each other & also some of Walmart’s Disney bedding and Disney room accessories.
After we had our paint, we browsed Walmart to find supplies for our room reveal party. The girls had a lot of fun with this part of the shopping trip.
We’re very excited about creating a bright new space in our house. The Disney Paints help make projects like this affordable & even make decorating with kid a fun activity. We had a wonderful shopping experience & can’t wait to paint Alex’s room & invite our friends over to party!
