Spring Flowers: A Fun Meal for Kids & An Easy Craft

April 4, 2013

This week we are finally getting some nice spring weather. I can’t wait to pack away the winter coats & start my vegetable garden. While getting in the “spring spirit” at our house, I came up with a fun spring dinner for the kids & an easy craft.
Dinner time is not easy at our house. After reading a post about picky eaters on one of my favorite blogs, Marino Bambinos, I decided maybe now & then I should make meal time a little more “fun”.
Flower Garden Dinner:
Ingredients:
Ground beef or turkey
Green beans
Fiori Pasta
Directions:
Steam beans, cook pasta & cook meat. Assemble into a flower garden.
I know, I know…. I have to stop taking paint samples for crafting!

Spring Flower Garden Kids Craft

Supplies:

Leftover Easter basket grass

Paint samples or construction paper

White cardstock

Glue

Green marker or crayon

Directions:

Use a scallop craft hole punch to make flower shapes from the paint samples/ construction paper. You can also cut out flower shapes, or the you have older children, let them cut out flowers.

Spread glue along the bottom of the cardstock & stick on the grass. Glue the flower shapes along the top. Then have the children use the green crayon to connect the flower to the grass, to make the stems.

Happy spring!

Oh, I understand the pull of paint samples!! I love your creation! My kiddos go bonkers over this sort of stuff. I love your craft too. I bet your girls have so much fun at home with you!! Thanks for the shout-out too – I am honored.

That is a really clever idea with the dinner – did they eat it ok?
